Everyday Icons– The Design Of The Ordinary We use them everyday but never know who, why and when was the object invented. And thus I researched about toilet paper, which is an everyday object in everybody’s life. After doing my research I realized that I had never ever thought about the objects I use everyday. I observed that the objects we use everyday are so effective. Out of my everyday objects I felt that tissue paper is generally he most important thing I use everyday. And today I can’t even imagine my life without tissue paper. This report will clearly give an overview of social, cultural, historical and economical aspects of toilet paper. Today it’s so difficult to imagine life without toilet paper. Mainly toilet paper is a soft product made to maintain hygiene. They are mostly single or doubled sheets. They are soft, strong and absorbent. It is made from recycled paper, combining softwood and hardwood trees. Softwood trees such as Southern pines and firs which has long fiber that wrap each other and strengthens paper. Hardwood trees like gum, maple and oak, which make a softer paper. Toilet paper is usually a combination of approximately 70% hardwood and 30% softwood. When toilet paper is made from recycled paper, procedure starts by mixing paper and removing ink. Recycled paper needs to be washed and is often deinked to being mashed. Toilet paper is then compressed and transformed into very thin and soft paper. At the end toilet paper is bleached or unbleached or printed or scented.
