He is sent to school for the first time in his life, but he is scared of what the other kids will think of his face. Throughout this story, he is bullied but somehow still makes friends despite his face. Other characters in the book are: Olivia (via), Miranda, Jack Will, Julian, Summer, Charlotte, Henry, Miles, Justin, Jamie, and Mr. Browne.
His parents are still in the stage where they know their son is autistic but they believe it might be a wrong diagnosis and their son is only going through a delay. But after speaking to professionals and Nelson’s teachers they have been confirmed that Nelson is autistic and he will received special education to accommodate to his needs. In addition, Nelson communicates through nonverbal communication which is primarily through hand gestures and noises. For example if he needs an object, he requests it by pointing at the object or grabbing the teachers hand and placing it on the desired object. Nelson plays with the toys and sometimes interacts with his classmates, but has a hard time making eye contact with people.
The all like doing there HW and getting good grades in school because they want to go to college and start a career. The boys obviesly just want to play games on the PS3 and the XBOX 360 all they long. Sometimes they lie about them not having HW just play video games for a long time but there parents make them stop after 2 hours and make them read for 30 minutes and to outside and run around to keep them active. Being intelligent like he is doesn’t mean he doesn’t act like regular people at home, when he argues with his brother, but when he’s around the people he is everyone knows when to keep their trap shut. Ponyboy is a very intelligent boy. When he gets B’s they need to be A’s, and when he gets A’s they need to stay that way according to his brother Darry. Ponyboy once said, “ I get good grades and have a high IQ and everything ” (Hinton 4). Ponyboy does not realize why Darry emphasizes schoolwork.
He skipped school quite often and causing trouble around his neighborhood. At age 7 his parents transferred him to an all boys Catholic school run by monks for him to get a better education. St. Mary’s was the school Babe attended and it was a very strict school that helped turn his life from bad to good. St. Mary’s was the place at which Babe got his passion for baseball. Kids of any age will try to convince their parents that they are sick so they don’t have to go to school for the day and hate school. “Little Rock Nine”, on the other hand, actually valued their education. They literally put their lives on the line to go to Central High School and learn. Sure some people sometimes travel three or more hours to get to school but to have to deal with a riot everyday and be criticized for how they look is just cruel. Kids these days have no idea how hard life was back then, even the African American student haven’t a clue to how harsh life was, not just in Central High School but their lives in general were always being tortured.
[2] The children in the novel were born into the new era of the Party. They were raised around the new Party didn’t know what happened in the past, so they only believe and what they are taught. The children “…nowadays were horrible.” (25) They turn their parents in for breaking the Party’s rules. They are targeted because they are young and easily manipulated. Having the children as spies is the key to keep the Party growing and on the right track because they are the future.

Jack wishes for Pam to marry a man who has a good head on his shoulders and who could financially provide for a family. Although his secret methods for discovering Greg’s past come across as comically over the top, they show the love and respect that he has for his daughter. Jack’s ability to find fault in each one of Greg’s actions displays his inability to let go of his daughter. He believes that no man is good enough to marry her. Additionally, Jack refers to Pam as his “little girl,” symbolizing his fear of her growing up and becoming engaged.
