TASK 1 ARGUMENT FOR Topic sentence: Euthanasia is justifiable in cases where a human being no longer has any quality of life left due to a terminal illness causing severe pain or incapacity. ARGUMENT AGAINST Topic sentence: All life is sacred; human beings should not be allowed to terminate the life of another human being. Supporting ideas: 1. 2. It is a method to relieve extreme pain. It provides the option of relieving pain should a person’s quality of life be very low. It is a humane form of assistance, not dissimilar to a veterinary surgeon putting to sleep a terminally ill animal. From a Christian perspective, if we were to die naturally, is it not playing God plugging the machine in in the first instance? Supporting ideas: 1. People begin to fear that doctors are killing people 2. There is a chance that euthanasia can become a means of cost containment. 3. (deleted) There is one truth and that is change. We will not remain in our physical form forever, we will die, that is a fact. How we die is what most human beings fear. Although death cannot be avoided, we can control whether to continue living with a terminal illness or not.
