My Mother is Church of England and my Father is a catholic so i was bought up to choose my own prefences in faith. i think this has benefited me because i have learned to respect that everybody has different beliefs, if any at all. I think this makes it much easier for me to understand that everyone is different. I show no prejudice at all towards anybody at any time.I like talking to my clients about their prefernces and beliefs and try to help them practice their faith as much as posible. For example I have an elderly man in my care who is a muslim, i shall call him Mr. S. Mr S suffers from demensia and sometime forgets to pray, muslims pray facing towards mecca.
For example, after Malcolm X got clean and found the Muslim religion. He starts giving speeches for the members of the nation of Islam. “I stayed so high that I was in a dream world” (126). This shows that Malcolm is admitting that he used to use drugs. This is because he doesn't want other people to go down this road.
He is quoted and saying “I am trying to build up black people’s morale, self-confidence and self-reliance to show them that the Jesus I’m talking about is real”. (Ebony) In the Philadelphia Daily News, he concluded: “The Bible says, ‘Faith without works is dead.’ That is just another way of saying: Put your money where your mouth is”. Reggie White life came to an end on December 26, 2004. During his time with us he earned great with fame and glory. But most importantly he had a deep personal relationship with the Lord.
I agree with Packer’s statement: “They are as intimate as they are grand, and they offer themselves for worship by ordinary people searching for a suitable object of devotion" (474). Unfortunately, this may be true, to suggest people want or need a tangible object or person to worship is profound. Humans are made in God’s image. We are naturally religious, and being so, we need to hold on to or trust some form of “idol”-- and celebrities are it. As a result, we have to ask ourselves: “Where are we going to place our devotion (trust)... in God or men?” Buggs 2 In reality, people don’t watch television or sports or go on social media to find God.
Next come Christianity and then my religion, which is Sikhism. Sikhs believe in one universal God, we respect all other faiths, we believe that men and women are equal and unlike the Hindus, we do not believe in the caste system, which discriminates against people because of their birth. We also believe in fighting against injustice and helping all people in need and not just fellow Sikhs. Devout Sikh men wear turbans and do not cut their hair and have often been mistaken for Muslims, although very few Muslims wear turbans, especially in America. Since 9-11, Sikh men with turbans have had a bad time with discrimination.
This, to me, surprises me considering I have Islamic cousins (I definitely have no negative feelings towards anybody because of their race or religion now). Not everything that resulted from 9 /11 was negative, though. The American people came together and helped each other pull through. People displayed nationalism, pride, solidarity, and together we commiserated. We mourned the death of the thousands of lives claimed by the ruthless actions of the terrorists.
Carter believes that their spiritual attachment to their social group is what provided their pathway to terror. "Setting up these divisions based on faith and religion is the starting point for people thinking of themselves as separate and distinct and part of some out-group. "(Professor David Canter) Canter believes that although religion is associated with terrorism, it is the spiritual feeling of belonging that ultimately makes the terrorist. [It seems to me perfectly feasible to have multiple faith schools that recognize and encourage the good things in religion without creating the idea that one way or another
Although salah is mandatory on every Muslim it does not mean that performing this ritual is enough to gain salvation as a Muslim. Salah allows muslims to perform dhikr remembrance of Allah it gives a spiritual connection to their lord however the religion Islam enforces more On the other hand with salah there are no excuses, not even when you are ill, on a journey or even in war so it can be said that it is enough to gain salvation as a Muslim. Moreover Salah is a practical sign of obedience to the commands of Allah and its importance has been emphasized about 500 times in the Holy Quran. Muslims believe that Salah is the most beloved act to Allah and that he loves those who perform it well and on time however it can not be said that on its own it is enough to gain salvation as a Muslim as on the day of judgement one will be judged on not only their salah but on their submission to Allah as a whole. However it is believed that Salah is the key to salvation and it is the sign of Iman and one who abandons it doesn't posses Iman and will not attain
The responsibilities of an eastern society father towards his children here in the U.S. can be classified based on their purpose. Transmitting the father’s religion and thoughts to the children is very important to maintain their identity. My family and I came from a conservative society; our religion is Islam, and we moved to a Christian society. I have to teach my daughters my religion and how to practice it in their own lives with respect to others’ religions. I try hard to teach them the true Islam because I do not need them among those who use Islam in a wrong way to kill or to hurt others.
The soul goes through cycles of births and deaths before it reaches the human form. The goal of our life is to lead an exemplary existence so that one may merge with God. Sikhs should remember God at all times and practice living a virtuous and truthful life while maintaining a balance between their spiritual obligations and temporal obligations. The true path to achieving salvation and merging with God does not require renunciation of the world or celibacy, but living the life of a householder, earning a honest living and avoiding worldly temptations and sins. Sikhism condemns blind rituals such as fasting, visiting places of pilgrimage, superstitions, worship of
