Statement of the Problem: Ethnic discrimination is unequal treatment of people based on the fact that they belong to a certain ethnic or national group. Ethnic discrimination can also involve placing a person in a different position on the basis of religion, skin colour or nationality. In addition to unequal treatment, discrimination is the creation of an intimidating, hostile, humiliating or offensive environment, and the instruction or order to discriminate. According to the United Nations conventions, there is no distinction between the term racial discrimination and ethnic discrimination. Like lots of countries in the world ethnic discrimination also exists in Pakistan. But the most horrible side of the picture is that this discrimination is very strong in the educational institutions of the country. This trend is not only observed at the faculty or administration level but it is also very strong and dominant among the students. One other aspect of this issue is the type of education institution under consideration i.e. public sector or private institutions. This research will be conducted to study all the aspects related to the topic. QAU has a quota merit system with specific seats for each province. This diverse cultural landscape gives uniqueness to the University in Pakistan and students coming from different areas of Pakistan represent their cultural values in the student’s cultural councils. "Mehran Students' Council" is the first most Students’ Cultural Council since 1983. Others are Jammu Kashmir Council, Pakhtoon, Baloch, Gilgit Baltistan and Punjabi councils are also here. Research Question: What are the reasons that drive students towards ethnic frame of thinking in Quaid I Azam University?
