Countries have been industrializing, and attempting to compete internationally; this means more companies are doing business outside their home countries. This merging of cultures brings together people with different values, laws, and ethical standards. The international businessperson must understand the standards from their own culture as well as the standards from different cultures. There are many challenges facing businesses that operate internationally, one of the biggest is ethical complexities. (Ferrell, Fraedrich, and Ferrell, 2008) Because of these challenges there is a need for uniformity. There are steps a company can take prior to entering a global market to determine what ethical rules apply to that country, but one must not loose sight of the home countries ethical values and laws.
