The Modern Challenges in Immigration United States of America is known has land of the free. We are the land that many people want to start a new better life than what their countries have to offer them. America does not discriminate in any way and can offer a better life for immigrants who want to live here. There is a legal process that has to be reinforced in order for those who want to become American citizens. Naturalization is the conferring of citizenship on a person into a United States. In order to be naturalized a person must be at least eighteen years of age, continuous residence for at least five years, must have good moral character that is determined by criminal records, the ability to read, write, and speak the English language, and lastly the ability to pass the United States government and history test. The United States government policy should not favor different immigrants; they should all be able to go through the rules of naturalization no matter what. I know that there are circumstances that a person feels the need to leave their natural born country to come to the United States; this is why there are rules to go by when it comes to becoming a legal resident. Everyone living in the United States should be able to speak and understand the English language no matter what country they are from. Just as it should not matter what country the person is coming from, it should be first come, first serve. The United States has always been known as the land of the free and we are always helping other countries when they are in need. Laws are made to be followed and the rules of immigration should show no favors to anyone by any
