Zumba I choose zumba as my recovery active recovery or training. Because it is an active recovery exercise, I will be focusing on the long term studies. Thus, my population are college athletes. Introduction Zumba – fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba can include interval training (alternate fast and slow rhythms) and resistance training. This is an anaerobic activity that can count 150 minutes a week of moderate activity that is recommended by the Department of Health and Human Services (Laskowski, E., 2014). Zumba allows participants to dance away their worries, based on the principle “Fun and Easy to do”. A person who engages in zumba just needs a great attitude and a willingness to try something new. Second, the choreography is not too complicated. Zumba is not like the other zumba classes where it takes traditional add-on choreography. If you cannot master a move or not loving it, that section will be over in a few minutes and can start with a brand new song and step that gives chance to have a fresh start (Fuhr, L., 2014). Third, it is a full body workout. It keeps the workouts fresh, and it ensures that maximum calorie burning will continue. If workouts are the same, it does burn calories slowly; zumba does different routines every time. And the best part of this, the body does not hurt the next morning. Fourth, zumba does not feel like exercise. If a person wants to dance and workout at the same time, zumba is one (Walker, J., n.d.). there is also Zumba Gold, a lower-intensity version of zumba; like zumba it is easy to follow and fun.
