Elizabeth Lloyd sought the topic of female orgasm as an area of strong interest and delved into the topic to essentially source its origin. In doing so, Lloyd collectively analysed and criticised several theories that as a majority, represented the idea that female orgasm is an evolutionary adaptation. In particular, Lloyd placed emphasis on those that say it stems from evolutionary pressure and critiques each theory. In return, Lloyd proposes her very own idea; that female orgasm is not directly associated to sexual reproduction. In fact, that is another theory she criticises alongside with hormonal determination of sexual behaviour and pair bonding.

In Deborah Tannen’s essay, “Can’t We Talk,” she was able to persuade me men and women misunderstand each other due to the simple fact that opposite genders perceive language differently. Tannen states in her essay, “Learning the other’s way of talking is a leap across the communication gap between men and women, and a giant step towards genuine understanding.” Throughout the essay, she uses great structure and examples to inform her readers of this gap between the genders and how it interferes with communication and understanding. Deborah Tannen structures her essay in a way that makes it easy for the reader to follow, and in turn, helps make her point. When first looking at the page, it is very appealing to the eye. She has six different points proving the differences between men and women through examples.
Whereas the first two authors both preach for equal women’s rights and for better treatment for women this author, Catharine Beecher, is more discreet about woman’s rights. According to Beecher, women should have equal privileges as men in social and civil concerns, but in order to keep these privileges women stay stagnant and hand over the civil and political decisions to men. She suggests this because women throughout their life are taught
