Educated at Brisbane Grammar School and The Scots College, Warwick, Jackson joined the Young Australia League, with which he visited Europe. After leaving school he ran a grazing property in St George. By the early 1930s he was in business as a stock and station agent, and had interests in engineering and financial concerns. Also in the years before and after the Revolutionary War were very exciting in a sense that before the war, the States were still succeeding from England and building colonies and communities in this country. As well as afterwards there were still people who supported the King of England and would turn their neighbors over for treason, acting like spies, even after the fighting had ended. Point two: The man Rip Van Winkle, the main character, in this story was loved by all and was a respected man about town, except for with his wife. All the dogs and children loved him and the citizens all new him by name. They were his friends.
Cabeza de Vaca and his aspiring men dug their raft out the sand and used their clothing to repair it. Sailing out they were hit by another wave that shredded the boat again. After reading The Killer Angels I am now more open to history as a subject and the literature that comes along with it. To read about how unexpected the battle actually was and how all of the commanding officers acted and felt amazed me. Michael Shaara put together the facts in such a way that made the novel not only readable but captivating to the reader, making me not want to put the book down. There were many mistakes on the confederate side which is what, I believe cause the union victory but, many men fought and died for what they believed in and that courage make them all victors in their own way. Although the civil war was not won that day, it was one of the deciding factors that eventually lead to the union victory and the freeing of the slaves, which would have most likely not have been accomplished if not for the men on that battlefield.
These are just two examples of the bond drive effort, but there was much more that happened on a small scale for promoting bonds. For example, some Soldiers and Marines that were awarded medals and sent home from the war early would also travel from town to town, telling crowds about fighting the Nazi’s or Japanese, and of course selling bonds. These bond drives were the most important part to selling the bonds, because just as a music artist is trying to sell cd’s, only so many people can be reached by advertising and therefore a nation wide tour is the best
Propaganda was seen by many as another form of warfare, just as important to the end result as the actual fighting. It was used to encourage unity within a nation and justify countries’ involvement in the war. Propaganda was rife in many forms in both the allied and central countries throughout World War 1 The effect that propaganda had was immediate and it also had a lasting effect which went beyond the war period. Each of the nations which participated in World War One from 1914-18 used propaganda posters not only as a means of justifying involvement to their own populace, but also as a means of procuring men, money and resources to sustain the military campaign. The main purpose of propaganda in Australia was used to conscript soldiers to fight in the First World War At first Australia agreed to send 20,000 men and they used propaganda to put forward service as glamorous, prestigious and heroic.
Every people have positive or negative feelings about the war. There were lot’s of volunteers that wanted to go to the war because they wanted to use the war as an opportunity to show that Australia was a great nation and seen the was as a chance for adventure. Also, soldier that have returned from the war felt that they had served their time for their nation and family so it was the turn for someone else to do this. Where as some ANZACs who held the against opinion thought that no one should be forced to go the war. Therefore, they believed that the conscripiton
