During recession Innocent would mostly want to survive. In order to survive they may think of lending money from banks. To borrow money they need to prepare a balance sheet over a period of time and the bank will make their decision based on the balance sheet. If they find out that Innocent would not be able to pay the money back then they would not allow Innocent to borrow which can
In document five, it is explained that wages are low from the factories because the factory workers are unattached parts of their family and only need to earn enough money to support a single person, not a whole family. This statement could be biased because of the speaker, an industrialist
While theft and low income consumers bring the possibility of providing only moderate revenue gains, if not a loss, operating in impoverished areas can also be a source of growing potential for the business. Many companies advertise philanthropic missions, such as donating to charities every year or helping to provide for the families of their employees. While these are messages that consumers hear, a more powerful message can be the one that the consumers themselves see. Rather than closing down those stores, Company Q should focus on the reasons for the high crime, and offer ways to reduce that crime rate. Offering work programs that help prepare young people for management or skilled positions is a good way to take crime off of the streets while showing to the community that the business cares about the welfare of the population.
Particularly vulnerable groups were the old, who had no means of acquiring money. The young, were dependant on their parents’ financial status and good will, if they were not orphans. Seasonal workers were vulnerable due to the cyclical nature of their employment. Anyone who suffered from illness either long or short term fell into poverty because there were no sickness benefits. Women were another vulnerable group because they were always paid at a lower rate than men.
They also live for the moment (present gratification). Some sociologists say that these attitudes and values prevent people from escaping poverty. For example, the attitudes and values of the poor mean that many don't stay in education, so they can't use qualifications to escape from their poverty. Some sociologists criticise this explanation of poverty because although it shows how people in poverty might adapt to their situation, it doesn't explain why people are in poverty in the first place. Another explanation of poverty is the poverty cycle.
In some countries, no middle class exists. Only high class and low class, if someone is not rich they are dirt poor. In some third world countries people struggle just to survive. They have to live day to day not knowing if they will have a full meal, much less any scraps to eat. They have to go looking for food by either; looking through dumpsters, beg for the food or scrape up some change, enough to buy a very small portion.
The hospitals are unclean with no medicine because doctors sell it on the black market, police are only there to help whoever gives them most money, and schooling is hardly even considered due to the lack of funding. Instead of what America is accustomed to, in this area of the world education, safety and good
Instead of helping the poor, people criticize them, for everything they do or not. Additionally, the government does not help them as much as before. On one hand, even if poor people work hard, they earn very little wages so it’s almost impossible for them “to escape poverty”. On the other hand, people from other castes think that welfare
“People could be helping a sickly two year old become a healthy six year old” (372) says Singer. This might be right; however, donating money doesn’t always work out for the best, and organizations only sent partial donations overseas to help families in need of care. The other is used for the cost of everything sent overseas. Then there are those organizations that say they are going to help those in need but actually pocket the money for other uses. Since it’s hard to trust anybody this day and age why not help out by volunteering at a local soap kitchen and help feed, homeless people, who have nothing to eat?
The minimum wage that welfare reform was expecting people to live off of was in fact not enough to even support the buying of food. In Working poor, working hard Katherine Newman expounds on the fact that welfare benefits are cut off at low levels and unavailable to those that earn minimum wage and work a forty-hour week. Newman also states that only a “combination of the two income streams [welfare and a job] make it possible to manage…life.” (Newman) These two sources only emphasize the already established fact that welfare reform must be reformed
