I must admit I will miss spending my time here. But most of all I will never forget how my experience as an Intern Medical Assistant with Cancer Patients. Making a difference in someone life just fascinates me, knowing that I have the power to help someone.

Nurses should deliver care to patients directly in response to their needs and use a variety of comforting strategies. Bob open up, and told me story of his life, I have been actively listening being aware of my body language, relaxed open posture and eye contact (Egan, 2002) .Although I could not comfort him verbally, I felt that my non verbal communication played significant role in delivering effective therapeutic nursing care, which according Arnold and Boggs (1999) is the linchpin between nurse and patient relationship. Peplau (1988) describe nursing therapeutic relationship with a patient as a healing
Interacting with the patients also made me realized how many people had very little and couldn’t afford health/dental coverage, and knew I wanted to make getting great dental services more easily accessible. During the time I spent shadowing my dentist, Dr. Freeman, I noticed how fast his pro-bono list for people without dental
From that point on, I was in wonder of the physical therapy profession and the amazing outcomes that are a direct result of their skills, knowledge, and passion to help people maximize their quality of life. When it came time to attend college I was faced with the decision of choosing a major. For most it can be a difficult one, but for me it was simple. I wanted to become a physical therapy assistant. I wanted to return the blessing that I had once been given and have the honor of bring back someone else's loved one's well being.
I learned a lot about this career in a short 30 minutes, and have found this assignment to be very helpful in choosing to go into the career. My mentor was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico and graduated from Alamogordo High School. He attended Lubbock Christian University for four years and after graduating, enrolled in the University of New Mexico medical program. At LCU, my mentor took a course to become an Emergency Medical Technician but later wanted to study general surgery. After working as a general surgeon in Phoenix, Arizona for six years, he specialized in orthopedics in Cleveland, Ohio and now works at a sports medicine practice in Alamogordo.
Taking care of others and showing compassion gives me courage and strength. I want to be loyal to my patients as well as my employer. I have always dreamed of following in my mother's footsteps and dedicating my life to caring for others. I plan to work in a doctors office in my local community so my duties would include things such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking patients vital signs, and collecting specimens like blood and urine.
On the surface, just being able to simply send the basic patient chart to another doctor in the practice, the front desk, the nearest hospital or even a specialist is an improvement on the current paper process (Source One). However, even more important than ease of use, is the ability of the EMR software to track patient systems across multiple providers in the same practice or across hospital in an entire integrated health network (Source Seven). The physicians would have the option to view other patient charts with similar patient symptoms to a patient they were currently treating in real-time, which would allow them to see what they were ultimately diagnosed with, potentially saving the life of the patient on the table. It could essentially cut out the ‘learning curve’ of that doctor, especially if it was a set of symptoms that they were not as familiar with (Source Sixteen). Further, the EMR software is capable of alerting the doctors to trends that are taking place across the health system, making them aware of current bugs that may be floating around the area, which can help with quicker, accurate treatment of diseases and illnesses (Source
I wanted to make my parents proud because of what I was doing. I want to be able to provide for my kids in ways my parents couldn’t always afford too and that’s when I started looking into it more thoroughly. I ended up coming into realization that being a Medical Assistant was also something that started to interest me. I love helping people and meeting new people as well. I work in a place where I see new faces every day, it’s always nice to interact with them and learn a little bit about them in just a matter of a few seconds.
