I feel strongly about immigration in the United States of America. I believe that people should be able to live where ever they want in the world without being treated as less than equal. They should be able to have the same opportunities as the citizens of the United States without having to file for a green card. Immigrants should not have to endure mental, emotional and physical distress caused by Americans. Though America may not treat immigrants as badly as other countries we should welcome them with open arms. Many immigrants say the same thing when asked the question, “Why did you choose to come to America?” Their answer is often that America is said to have more opportunities. My Aunt once told me that people would tell her that the roads were paved with gold. These immigrants truly believe that by bringing their families to America they would be able to provide better lives for them. In the case of some immigrants there may be more opportunities in America for them, but because of the immigration laws they are stuck with unfair and unjust low paying jobs.…show more content…
They often show hostile behavior towards the immigrants by looking down on them, calling them names, using stereotypes, etc. In an article entitled, The Human Face of Immigration, Mindi Rappaport’s eight grade class tells her that immigrants are taking jobs, bring crime, and belonging to gangs. This statement from her eighth grade class shows that little kids are being thought to exclude immigrants at an early age. Many people also believe that allowing the illegal immigrants to stay in America is causing taxpayers too much money. I believe that letting these people know that they are not welcome in your country of opportunity because of money problems is cruel.
