American National Government POS 2041 70M “A Human Life Amendment should be added to the US Constitution to prohibit and outlaw abortion procedures” What is the true definition of life? According to the Online Dictionary, life is “the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally” (Dictionary.com). With this information, one can easily accept that a fetus, is in fact, human life. A fetus grows through metabolism, develops a reproductive system, and definitely acquires the ability to adapt to an environment through multiple changes. So why do we not protect them the same way we protect ourselves? A Human Life Amendment added to the constitution to prohibit and outlaw abortion procedures is the most efficient way to correct this problem. Abortion is a cruel procedure that contradicts fetal laws, that viciously takes away and denies a fetus of personhood and life, and is dangerous to the mother and can become very costly. According to the Guttmacher Institute, in 1995, AGI collected information from 10,000 women who had received abortions that year. However, most of these women stated that their main reason for the abortion was due to low income, they were young between the ages of 18 and 24, they were separated or not married, and/ or was not affiliated with a religion.
