Since the time education itself as a separate subject of study, the focal point of all pedagogical theories and methodologies has been the involvement of the learner in the process of learning through active participation facilitated by the teacher either inside or outside the class room. As Herbert Spencer said the great aim of education is not knowledge but action, I believe that learning is not only acquiring knowledge, it is all of understanding, thinking, questioning discussing and applying it. Learning should be like a walker to a child to his world of knowing to the world of unknowing. The child learns through making his or her physical connections with the world, through sensory explorations, personal effort, social experiences and the active seeking of meaning from experiences, has been established in the theories of psychologists such as Froebel, Montessori, Isaacs ,Stenier…show more content…
A Learner can learn in a particular way or in a combination of ways. Learning should help a child to ask more questions to improve and develop critical thinking. It creates a sense of curiosity and equipping children to become critical thinkers. Every child has unique learning and psychological profile (Garnett, 2005:41). People learn in different ways, but actual learning takes place when they understand it in depth. Conceptual learning only helps them in their life. Howard Gardner’s theory hypothesizes that human competence consists of eight forms of intelligence. Developments in neuroscience and cognitive psychology have presented new ways of thinking about the brain. Brain based learning is motivated by the belief that learning can be accelerated and improved if educators base their teaching practices on how the brain process learning.
