Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions one will make in their lifetime. When choosing a career, you have to think about how it will affect your income and lifestyle, but more importantly your happiness and self-fulfillment. Now, marketing is one of the careers where a person can enjoy what they do and be relatively well off financially. The marketing industry has always been something that has fascinated me. For my report, I have chosen to explore the job opportunities a sales representative can have in the marketing field. My father is a director of sales for Coca Cola, so I have been fortunate enough to see how the industry works and the potential it offers. One of the main reasons why I would like a career in sales is it offers a bright outlook for the future. What I mean by this is there are many opportunities to move up the ladder if you work hard. As I get older, I have been starting to think about what type of job I want and what will be the best fit for me. I have done extensive research on the Marketing industry, but more specifically sales. Recently I have been exploring different job opportunities on Monster.com. When I search for sales manager jobs, there are over 1000 jobs posted on their website. This just shows how big the industry is and how many opportunities there are. According to US News the average salary for a sales manager is $119,980. They also state that sales managers generally earn much higher pay than other business jobs. After looking at different job postings on Monster, I have come to the conclusion that most people start off making around $50,000 to $70,000 a year. With that being said I think a career as a sales manager can lead to a fulfilling life if you work hard.
