Atmospheric Pollution Environmental Science SCI 275 University of Phoenix July 29, 2011 BY Reigard U. Brown Sr. The paper that I am writing will be about one of the problems we have in the world is Atmospheric pollution. Atmospheric pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter that cause harm or discomfort to humans and living organisms in our atmosphere. There are many different ways that air pollution can be omitted into the air we breathe like pollution that comes from house cleaning products, older model cars, energy plants, and forests fire.
Some asthma attacks are mild and some can be very serious. People can even die from a bad asthma attack. Signs of an asthma attack are tight chest, cough, and wheezing. People with asthma respond to different risk factors. Risk factors are things that can start asthma attacks.
Acid Rain in North America is a very serious issue which needs to be addressed. It affects the environment in many different ways affecting, lakes, trees, animal, and other living things. If people are willing to help, the chances of disaster will be decrease, but if actions do not take place, then the acid rain will cause a lot of damages to the environment. Wet deposition is a form of acid deposition which includes fog or snow. In this process acidic water flows over and through the ground and affects varieties of plants and animals.
Understanding potential hazards in Health and Social Care Electricity Supply - All electrical equipment hold a risk of a potentially dangerous electrical shock, it can be caused by contact with live parts and could result in burns or even death in bad cases, so it’s important to ensure that your computer is fully tested and maintained. Exposure to arching may lead to an injury and faulty electrical equipment or installations has a high risk of fires. Unsuitable electrical apparatus’ can cause explosions. Raw Sewage - Exposure to raw sewage or its products may result in a number of health risks and illnesses. Gastroenteritis; can cause stomach cramps and pains, diarrhoea, and vomiting.
b) The dangers associated with not following safe practices. Hazardous Substances are used in many workplaces and take many different forms. Exposure to hazardous substances can affect the body in many different ways. Skin contact, inhalation and ingestion can cause damage. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (known as COSHH) says that employers must identify which hazardous substances are present in the work place.
It also have some very harmful effects on humans and nature. It creates large amount of pollution, destroys the nature and also increases the diseases in human societies. As in documentary about “The Ethics of Fracking” by Marleen troy PhD (Environmental Engineer), Bernard Prausak and Rabbi Mordechai Liebling.
(10 points) Air pollution can affect your health by contributing to asthma, reducing lung function, and respiratory diseases, such as bronchitis. Noise pollution can damage your hearing. Water pollution can get in your water supply and you can drink it, leading to damage of your immune system and such. 6. Explain the meaning of the statement, "Think globally, act locally," and give an example of acting locally.
Each of these compounds is known to be poisonous, cancerous, or cause birth defects. The EPA fears that the drinking water will compromised due to runoff of the surface water discharge. Additionally, contamination of underground sources of drinking water and inadequate treatment of the waste water are possible. The threat of contaminated water supplies can cause a fearful population, largely due to the propaganda spread by anti-fracking initiatives. Although there are potential economical disadvantages to fracking, there are also enormous positives.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease also called COPD is a progressive life threatening lung disease that makes it difficult to breathe. It is caused by chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Damage to your airways eventually interferes with the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your lungs. It is considered a progressive disease because it worsens over time. More than 12 million people are infected in the U.S., while another 12 million people are believed to have the disease but remain undiagnosed.
Waste and Energy Sandra Jenkins, William Matos, Tony Brown, Steve Olberding ENV/100 May 26, 2014 Jennifer Ott Waste and Energy Plastics and pesticides are both a type of waste. The former is considered a solid waste and the latter is a categorized as hazardous waste. Where do these wastes come from and what kind of effect do they have on the environment either when they are used or disposed of? Oil and natural gas are fossil fuels that emit their own waste once used. The effects of their use on the environment can be far reaching and detrimental to health of humans, animals, and other organisms that inhabit the earth.
