Everyone's reality is not always what the want it to be. People are always looking for different ways to escape. They let themselves go to a "non-reality" place, whether it is through alcohol, technology or plastic surgery. Reality may not be their perfect world but escaping comes with consequences. "It is easier to stay out than to get out". Mark Twain could not have said it any better. When it comes to alcohol it is better to not get involved at all because once you start it is hard to get out of the habit. As we all saw in the "Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams, Tom always uses alcohol as a way to escape. He hates his job and at home all his mother does is nag. He felt that alcohol was the way to cure his pain. Every argument that went on, every time things were not right, there was Tom walking out and coming back home drunk. He even jeopardized his job because the day he would be too tired or had a hangover. Alcohol can affect you in so many ways. It can affect your health, your job and your family. It is not worth having a bit of "freedom" for a life of worst reality. Unless you live in a foreign country, your life is most likely influenced by technology in one way or another, whether it is by phone, a computer or video games. People are always on their phone either texting, talking or on a website. On newsdial.com it showed a statistic that 73 percent of drivers are talking on the phone while driving. That is what is leading to so many car accidents and deaths. Not only can the person driving get hurt or killed but also any innocent person that is also driving or walking near them. When it comes down to video games and the computer, people are using this on the daily basis to escape. With video games kids, teens and adults are being less active. This may lead to obesity or not eating at all. These games also have other affects.
