The individual should be treated as you would wish to be treated ensuring them a good quality of life. 2.1 It is important to find out the history of the individual including all there wishes, preferences and needs whilst creating there care plan to keep the individual in control of the care being provided. To implement agreed ways of working you follow the Policies and Procedures and the service users care plan, where the management of the individual's daily care needs are agreed and documented. It is extremely important to have up to date agreed ways of working as there may be changes in policies within the law. Our company may have to implement them to help protect the vulnerable. EXPLATION OF WHY PERSON-CENTRED VALUES ARE IMPORTANT AND HOW THEY INFLUENCE SOCIAL CARE WORK Person-centred values are important are not only important but are also the law, under the Human Rights act 1998, Health and Social act 2012,Code of practice for social care workers. Person-centred values must influence all aspects of health and social care work. All individuals working within the health care sector should follow the person-centred values as this ensures that each individual feel that they are being treated as an individual. The health and social worker should ensure that: * They support the individual to be as independent as possible * They treat all individuals with dignity and respect * The individual is supported to exercise choice and wellbeing * the individual have privacy if they want it * the individual is supported in accessing their rights * the individual is treated as an individual The health and social worker should make sure the above is followed as this will influence all aspect of health and social care it is important to ensure that all individuals are treated as such and person- centred care should ensure Person-centred values influence health and social workers, as it helps to provide anti-discriminations practice and to help promote and support individual’s right to equal opportunities, dignity, independence, choice and safety. Health and social workers need to respect individual’s rights, belief and identities.
1.2 Explain why it is important to work in a way that embeds person centred values. It is important to do this as person centred approaches, policies and procedures, as well as care practices should always put the person whom we support at the very centre of the decision making process about their life and services and support they may need, as well as including the client and their families in the planning and maintaining this. All person centred approaches for every person we support as care workers should have certain values, these are individuality- realising and understanding the uniqueness of every person, rights- always make sure all rights of those I support are upheld, choice- maintain clients choice, privacy- maintaining the service uses privacy, independence- empowering individuals to do activities for themselves, dignity- to be treated in a respectful way. It is vital for the social care worker to work using these precise methods to establish the needs and wishes of the individual. This will also mean that the individual will feel empowered and in control of their lives, be more confident about making decisions, will feel valued and respected.
It is also my responsibility to ensure that all company policies and procedures are carried out and to maintain records for the service delivered, along with responsibility for ensuring that my training needs are kept up-to-date so that I am at the level of standards required to undertake my role.
