Unit 523 1.1 The induction process is essential for everyone at the company as it is the tool that is used to integrate new employees fully into a staff team and by having an effective induction period this has a knock on effect where a staff team is built on positive foundations and everyone is working at the same level towards the same goals. Because of the nature of the young people we care for our induction includes a two week period where the staff member will “shadow” an experienced member of staff. This gives the staff member the opportunity to get used to the environment of working in a house without the pressure of being officially on shift. It also gives the young people a chance to get used to having a new person working at the house as some of the young people can react differently to change in their lives as they have had a difficult upbringing. During this period the staff member receives in-house mandatory training which includes first aid, restraint training, recording and safeguarding.
However, we can aim to offer each unique child equality of opportunity suited to their individual needs and requirements. We as staff need to understand the needs and requirements of each individual child. For each child to have equal opportunities, settings they learn and play in must ensure that they and their families are fully included in the setting, taking into account the diversity of the children and families who come to the setting. Inclusion is the process of making this happens. Working towards inclusion involves striving to remove barriers to children and their families.
In addition, every Saturday she attended a community college to tutor kids with special needs. Gloria loved working with these kids, and making them feel better about themselves, she was willing to help out in any way that she could. In like fashion to being caring, Gloria was also very intelligent. I went to her house one day and was just astonished by her collection of books; she basically had
ESE 315 WEEK 5 JOURNAL POSITION STATEMENT ESE 315 Week 5 Journal Position Statement, As I read the statement in “Early Childhood Inclusion: A Summary”, I came up with the conclusion of what the creation of a sense of belonging and membership, positive relationships and reaching full potential means when working with all young children and families. First, I would make sure that my classroom environment accommodates all my students and the parents feel comfortable with their child in the environment also. Throughout my teaching career and working with all children and families I have discovered that the best therapy a child can have is from their peers, therefore making the classroom environment as confident and warm as possible has always been a key and success for me. I have always had a classroom where all kids were included and this made all my students more peaceful and kind to one another and vey proud in their work and others as well. Since, I have been thinking of different ways of creating environments, seeing children’s strengths, abilities, and communicating with families during this class, I am going to briefly discuss two things I plan to implant in my professional experience.
Explain the importance of multi-agency and integrated working. How does this create a better outcome for children, young people and their families? Multi-agency working is different services, agencies, teams of professionals and other practitioners working together to provide the services that meet the needs of children, their parents or carers. These can include health visitors, educational psychologists, colleagues from other early year settings, social workers and parents or carers. Integrated Working is when all these professionals supporting children work together effectively to put the child at the centre, meet their needs and improve their lives all under one roof.
Unions need to be visible and vocal to new employees, offering them information about who they are and how they can help. Including a union representative during New Hire Orientation is another great way to increase membership since it gives new employess a full overview of the union and the benefits available. In addition, holding monthly Steward Meetings on a regular basis will keep the communication lines open between the union and its members. This position is imperative since they are working alongside the members, a good steward will help the union remain strong, healthy and maintain/increase its membership. Regular membership meetings is just as important since it keeps members informed and show them that the union is proactive not only being visible when there is a problem.
I will do this by conveying to them the importance of having a strong set of moral convictions and beliefs, and how this can help them establish who they are as individuals. I will also stress the importance of creativity to them in order to help open up their minds to new ideas with regards to mind and body. I will schedule a meeting once a week with every player on the team. During this meeting I will give them opportunities to respond to questions that I have prepared. From this, my students will be able to express their individuality and I can help them develop this.
As each child starts in our setting, their parents fill in a portfolio, which helps our staff learn their likes and dislikes and their favorite toy, song and story. I feel myself that in our setting we would use the High Scope approach in most of areas of play and the layout of our rooms. We would also use a daily routine and this can often change to suit the child’s play. We do weekly planning to develop the children’s growth. Through planning and day trips, we have introduced first hand learning skills, i.e.
When you ask a child for their interpretation of diversity, they usually associate it with the image of colorful stick figures holding hands around the world. Fast-forward to adulthood, and we see how diversity encompasses our everyday lives. Growing up, I listened to countless anecdotes of perseverance and determination through my mother’s life experiences. Even now I hear new tales ranging from the struggles she faced moving to America to her growing up in poverty in Peru. As a result, I am fascinated with hearing people’s personal stories because I can learn and grow internally.
From the people who plan the events and lead the people under them to what they are doing, to the people working for them to make their community better. It makes it so much better mentally when it goes perfectly and everyone including the people who work are happy. You learn so many life skills from what you do when you work to make your community a better place. My sophomore year of high school. I went to the longest community service event I have ever experienced.
