Although he did kill a few people in the story, he never really wanted to. When he defeated Bonzo and Stilson, he did it so that he would not just win that fight, he’d win all of the fights that they would ever have. He never meant to kill anyone. When he found out that he killed all the buggers he started crying. The IF lied to him and told him that it was just a game when it was not.
The conch also gave each individual boy the power to talk while holding on to it. The Sow's head showed authority in the novel by manipulating the boys by using threats and fears. Ralph was the elected leader of the boys. He didn't strive for the power like Jack, it kind of fell into his hands. His power was very strong in the beginning of the novel but as Jack began to rebel against Ralph, the rest of the boys went along with him.
(Peters, 94) Procopius in The Secret History criticizes Justinian throughout the book. He seems to have a problem with everything Justinian did during his regain from marrying Theodora, listening to what she had to say, the way he ran the empire and imposed new laws, and the need to collect taxes differently from earlier rulers, among many other complaints. Procopius was not the only one who thought it was a mistake for Justinian to marry Theodora because of her questionable upbringing and back ground but he never
He shows that even in the toughest times he can be calm unlike Oedipus the King who starts to rampage when he knows that he is the one to blame for Laios’ death and is hiding it from the citizens, his people. When Oedipus cries out to be banishes, Creon acts kindly and grants him that wish, but it wasn’t just because he was asked for help, but because he knew that one Oedipus was gone he could come up and rule. These are the few times the Creon show’s up, but this is when he starts shaping and showing the ambitions he has to become king which he later in the other plays begins to develop. By the end of the tragedy Creon begins to show that he is kind, responsible and is a good leader. Oedipus makes sure that all the little times he comes out in Oedipus Rex, he can show the qualities of King and therefore he knows that people will want someone like him.
This was, in my opinion, the event that officially qualifies him as a traitor; the fact that he disobeyed the government whenever he pleased. In conclusion, Nathaniel Bacon was a traitor. He purposely disobeyed the laws, did what ever he pleased because he knew there would be no repercussions, and he rallied up his own mini rebel army. He had good reasoning for things that he did but he did not think things though very well and he was very physical about problems. This is historically significant because he may have been the only one who would have fought against the government so diligently.
Although Frank is a respected war hero who saved many lives and also idolized by David but when he treats the young Indian women, he molest and rapes them. He shows no sign of pity for them and will kill them after molesting or raping. Julian Hayden is a man who loves gaining control of others. He assumes that he’s above the law so ‘they couldn’t arrest us’. When Julian slowly found out about Frank’s crimes, he thinks that Frank should not be arrested because he is the war hero.
After that was all stated he reminded the people how Carsar did turn down the kings crown multiple times, "I thrice presented him a kinlgy crown, Which he did thrice refuse." Then he repeats, "Was this ambitious, Brutus said he is ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man." He is just saying Brutus is an honorable man but using the sarcasm and irony of his choice of words to make Brutus look like the enemy. The irony he uses in this speech is quite astounding. Anthony uses the term, "an honorable man" as more of an insult than a compliment.
Macbeth, who was the main character of William Shakespeare play, and Gilgamesh who is the main character in A Verse Narrative Gilgamesh are the two main characters. They can be related in several ways, and one of them can be that both were kings in some point of their stories. The difference between Gilgamesh and Macbeth though was that they lived their stories in a reversed order. The start of Gilgamesh story was that he was known to be a tyrant king that his people were getting sick of but on the other hand Macbeth started as a military official that was considered a hero but as the story progressed evilness in him grew. Macbeth killed the real king to become king and slowly lost his good side to his evilness and sought to kill his closest friends kids in order to withhold power and the kingdom.
Because fear and pain does not play a role on this utopian society, let alone death, the term “Release” was created to veil the true meaning of death. When Jonas found out the true meaning of Release through watching his father release a baby, he felt so angry and confused that his own father killed a baby with his own hands. However, the Giver calmed him and explained to him: “Listen to me, Jonas. They can’t help it. They know nothing….
Many feel that from all of Machiavelli’s passages Macbeth would best fit into the category “Of those who by their crime come to be prince.” But it is the category “Of new princedoms acquired by the aid of others and by good fortune that helps best describe Macbeth. One of the most controversial topics in Macbeth is whether Macbeth’s actions were based on fate or freewill. This topic is slightly addressed in Machiavelli’s passage. The Duke of Valentino is quite similar to Macbeth they are both willing to do anything for the thrown. In Machiavelli’s passage he writes about people who have become king through “the aid of others/ good fortune” He shows that some people’s need for power is so intense that they would be willing to do just about anything to gain that power, even if it meant killing many people.
