“Epic Movie” For my epic I choose the movie “Inception” I chose this movie because it follows all of the required traits of an epic and some of the optional ones. Also the movie had a great story, spectacular music, and some pretty awesome special effects. The first epic trait that the movie has is it starts at the middle (or more towards the end in this case) goes back to the beginning and ends back where it started and so on. This is called “in media res” and is not able to be determined by the viewer till the end of the film. Next the hero in this film who goes by the name of “Cobb” is greater then the common man because he can access your dreams and make you believe something that isn’t true. This idea is called Inception, hence the title of the movie. Inception is known to be an impossible task and that is what makes him special, because he can pull it off. Him and his team that is. The setting in the story covers multiple areas of the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States. On top of that Cobb and his team can access others dreams which vary from city streets to a heavily fortified base on a snowy mountain. In battle Cobb shows a super human sense of courage, he does not back down when times get tough even when it is just a job for a client, but his main goal is to get back to the US where he is currently a fugitive for crimes he did not commit. His only way back involves doing a job for a client, and using inception on the mind of competitor of the hiring client. When Cobb is in another persons dream and they start to become aware of the situation. Figments of that persons dream start to attack Cobb. Also Cobb’s ex wife pops into dreams every now and then, these are bad memories of Cobbs that have come back to haunt him. These are the supernatural forces that intervene in the story. The style of writing is elevated from normal
