The hypothesis that states that the Moon was created out of the wreckage left over from a collision between the Earth and a figure the dimension of Mars, nearly 4.5 Gya (four and a half billion years) ago is known as the giant impact hypothesis. Evidence for this hypothesis involves Moon samples that reveal the surface of the Moon was once molten, the Moon's seemingly moderately small iron core and a lower density than the Earth, and evidence of related collisions in other star systems, which result in debris. The bumping body is occasionally called Theia, for the legendary Greek Titan who was the mama of Selene, the goddess of the Moon. Recently created gases material from the outer layers of both figures was thrown into space, creating a huge cloud that circled the young Earth. Gravity ultimately triggered the cloud to flatten out in its orbit around the planet, creating a ring. The earth absorbed the ring of material and the residue that lay outside the Earth’s gravitational attraction progressively combined to form the Moon. The moon was subsequently formed by a number of impacts with multiple debris around the Solar System. These produced the different cavities and geographic structures that we identify on the Moon’s surface today. For numerous hundred million years after the creation of the solar system, the planets were incessantly bombarded by spectacular debris. Consequently, the surface of the Earth perhaps re-melted recurrently by the effects of enormous asteroids. This primary bombardment sustained until about 3.8 billion years ago. Throughout the following main stage of earth’s development, cooling and distinction of the Earth’s layers occurred. Dense materials dropped to the middle, creating an iron-nickel rich core.
