Conclusion Environmental Ethics 3 The Challenge of Environmental Ethics Environmental ethics is the discipline in philosophy that studies the moral relationship of human beings and also the value and moral status of the environment and nonhuman contents. Feminism and the environment has been viewed based upon the logical thinking and decision making of women. The widespread of inferiorizing and colonizing of women had been encouraged through the constant male dominated culture and supported by four interlocking pillars: sexism, racism, class exploitation, and ecological destruction, according to Sheila Collins (1974). Human exploitation of nature may be seen as a manifestation and extension of the oppression of women, in that it is the result of associating nature with the female, which had been already inferior and oppressed by the male dominating culture. Women are exploited and faced with oppression every day. In the work place, women are forced into low paying, insecure and unskilled jobs. Women’s problem goes into the environment of the home. Women have to deal with housework, children, husband or boyfriend. Women often face violence either through physical, emotional and mental abuse.
