Two environmental problems caused by extensive plastic bag use are the chemicals that make the plastic bag and the way we dispose of them. Plastic bags are very dangerous to the environment. The plastic bag is made of toxic chemicals like xylene, ethylene oxide and benzene. Plastic bags are non-biodegradable which means these toxic harmful chemicals are putting people and the environment at risk. Because people don't dispose of the plastic bags properly they get into water ways which eventually affect the see life as well as all other animals and living organisms including plants.
Lake Huron is one of the Great Lakes and a major part of our fresh water system, which contains many wildlife and species. The lake however, is in a real danger, adversely effecting habitats, fish, wildlife, and human lives. Lake Huron has become a dumping ground for many companies, dumping waste that contains many pollutants. Bacteria levels have increased in the lake which can cause serious illness. These pollutants have reduced water quality, contaminated soils, and damaged the Lake’s ecosystems.
The poisons will kill fish and the reef in which the fish live because there is no precise way to deliver it. The fishermen will dump the poison on the water in a likely spot and catch what floats up. The problem with poison is that it does not choose what it kills, so it kills reefs and poisons the area for new generations, then the fishermen go on to another area to repeat the destruction. Aquatic Invertebrates: Adaptations and Feeding Guilds INTRODUCTION Global warming and human's authoritative influence on the environment such as deforestation, pollution etc. are taking a bad toll on the diversity of the ecosystem. Global warming which has brought about increase in the temperatures is disturbing the natural cycle of the ecosystem. This has brought upon an increased droughts throughout the world. The droughts and increased heat has had negative impacts on local aquatic invertebrates.
I have learned that the use of toxic chemicals during the fracking process and the occurring release of toxic chemicals and radioactive materials during well processing is bad for the environment. Such as, Naphthalene, Xylene, Toluene, Methylbenzene, and Formaldehyde, are all known or suspected to be human carcinogens (Schmidt). Also Hydraulic fracking hurts the environment by the contaminating the water wells, and springs, in which many humans and animals drink from. Another environment impact of hydraulic fracturing is air pollutions. Finally the way fracking impacted animal and human health.
As well as these problems in the summer one of the worst things was the stink. The smell of rotting corpses stank and became bloated. These corpses also led to the spread of disease throughout the Allied trenches causing losses. When autumn came many soldiers thought it was a blessing to be free of the heat but as it got colder they were faced with the problems such as flooding, wind gusts and frostbite. West Virginia Chemical Spill Effecting Our Environment Industrialization has greatly impacted our Earth. In the article Federal Grand Jury Investigates West Virginia Chemical Spill, the authors, Drew Griffin and David Fitzpatrick, emphasize the damage the chemical spill did to our planet. Many people were left with no water to use and the environment was greatly damaged by the spill. Chemical plants allow our society to develop some service such as water, electricity or disposal services. Conversely, Chemical plants can contaminate the pure water or create harmful diseases to humans and the Earth.
When we refine or even dig up oil sands we produce harmful chemicals. Since Alberta oil sands are located near major rivers some of those chemicals end up in the rivers. The most famous case is with the Athabasca River, where the water is contaminated by many harmful chemicals. The Athabasca water ecosystem is slowly being poisoned and so are the people that use the water for their water supply. The oil sands maybe a large part of our social and economic structure, but they are slowly ruining our environment.
SO2, sulfur dioxide effects our trees and water systems and is the prominent cause of acid rain. Mercury- when Mercury enters our water systems it becomes harmful to our ecology (fish, plants, animals etc) and effects anyone who consumes part of the food chain. Nitrogen
Africa and Florida’s environment both have issues and damages. The damages of the environment affect the animals that live in the area. Florida is known for its pollution in certain areas and this is what hurts the animals, from ranches and farms polluting the watered area where animals live they die off because of what is thrown in the water. In 1990, Florida Legislature banned drilling. This drilling happened on the coast-line with this happening most drilling comes with oil and with oil in the way of an animal they’ll get covered in it and soon die.
