Assignment #1: Entrepreneurial Leadership 1) Discuss the common elements described in the theories/philosophies of Case, Kouzes,and Drucker including how their principles/strategies relate to the new definition of entrepreneurial leadership presented in Understanding Entrepreneurial Leadership in today’s Dynamic Markets. Case, Kouzes and Drucker have different perspectives on their definition of entrepreneurial leadership. Each of these players has made an excellent job describing the characteristics of the new leader on this changing market. They have used their own experiences, built their case and made their own research to come up with these results. The principles that Case uses are People, Passion and Perseverance. He has based these principles on his own experience over 30 years of work. He has worked from the bottom to the top of the ladder, from innovation to partnering, and from a regular employee to an influencing speaker to others. He mentions on his speech that talented and skilled people are the most important asset of an organization. Ideas and new products come from the people working on those projects, and the organization should value and retain them. They should educate them and make them better if possible. According to Case, passion is what keeps people going, when people work with passion they can achieve whatever they vision, and if a downtime comes they will be able to overcome this time with much less struggle. Case describes an example of perseverance when AOL first came to the market. To get to that valuable point AOL had to innovate, research and fail; however it never quit. It always kept persevering until they got it right. Once they got it right, was a big success for them and their people. They went from 200, 000 customers to 29 million customers.
