Transformational Leadership (TL) has long been a leadership style that many managers have followed. This type of leadership focuses on the passion, inspiration and vision within a person. Nearly my entire professional career has been spent working in non-profit management, where I have been fortunate enough to work alongside a few exceptional leaders. I was fortunate enough to work with a manager that was the epitome of a transformational leader. Throughout this experience I was given an enormous amount of support both personally and professionally.
What is so amazing about this is that GE has managed to sustain leadership in these markets for years. (Bartlett, Wonzy) Another one of GE’s strengths is their research and development departments that lead the way in innovation for our planet. GE has been the cornerstone for innovation for over the past century. This is because they employee over 36,000 scientists and technologists trying to find ways to solve the worlds problems. GE is consistently looking for partners that can help them move forward and further improve in a technologically advancing world.
Question 1. Create a hybrid theory/philosophy which combines the common elements found in the thinking of Case, Kouzes, and Drucker. In your philosophy, be sure to include the new definition of entrepreneurial leadership presented in Understanding Entrepreneurial Leadership in today’s Dynamic markets. According to the Macmillan Dictionary (2011), a hybrid is defined as a mixture of different things or styles. In addition, the term philosophy is defined as the study of theories about the meaning of things such as life, knowledge, and beliefs.
Abstract Leadership styles and theories are essential to an organization structure, culture, and development. Understanding leadership style can help a company build a foundation that can lead to improved productivity, employee retention, and improved employee relations. This paper will show the leadership style of my former manager and how his leadership influenced job performance, organizational commitment, trust, and decision-making. The goal is to better understand how his transformational leadership style helped improve my leadership, and build on the policies and procedures within the organization. In addition, I will include information pertaining to my own leadership assessment as it pertains to leadership.
