“Entrepreneurial Leadership” 1.Analyze and describe the founding leader(s), leadership style, and major business principles of a profit-oriented entrepreneurial approach in which the primary goal is to provide a product or service to consumers and to make a profit. Steve Jobs is the prime example of the profit oriented entrepreneur. He got involved in the computer business, because he saw something that had potential to make money. He had a great eye for vision. When Wozniak, his partner, was just playing around, he saw the great potential that lie in the computer he was building. The article says, “he convinced his friend to go into business with him” (Entrepreneur.com, n.d.). Steve Jobs led by example. He was also a serial entrepreneur. He had several companies that he worked for: Apple, Pixar, and NeXT Computer Co. He would work with a company until either it did not work out or the company got rid of him, but nothing ever killed his spirit. He had a great tolerance for failure. He also had the confidence and creativity to create a computer and put it out on the market no matter how astronomical the cost. He was optimistic in the face of turmoil, when he returned to Apple to help them turn the situation around. He knew what was needed and worked towards making the product. He also showed the need to achieve and and strong internal locus of control. Steven Jobs leadership style has been called dictatorship by some (Allen, 2011). He acted on his own feelings. When he returned to Apple, he decreased the number of products being sold from 350 to only 10 within a year or two’s time. He stuck to his own instincts for decision making. He belittled staff members for their ideas and talked down to them, yet people continued to work for him.
