Entertainment media including movies, television, recordings, and Internet have made an enormous impact on society that would have been unimaginable a century ago. Media has transformed every aspect of our lives such as our culture, behavior, and how we as individuals and society think. Although all forms of media have done a great deal to advance American culture, they have also negatively impacted it. What we watch, read and listen to defines us as people whether we would like to admit it or not. Movies, television, music, and Internet have played a substantial role in the moral unraveling of American Society. The movie industry is a very successful and lucrative business and continues to be a large part of American culture. Even though movies are fun and enjoyable for everyone, they negatively effect and corrupt our views on behavior, violence, relationships, and sex. Even though this is a problem, movies that contain these notions, sell. Movies are a form of communication; they can educate us…. but not exactly in a positive way. Movies let us escape into a world, which is far from the daily realities of life. Actors and characters in movies inspire us to the point where we try to look and behave like them. We spend money to copy their fashion trends, we change whom we are in order to speak like them and act like them. We become so insecure about ourselves because we are constantly comparing ourselves to those in movies. Girls are dressing more inappropriately then they used to and men are enjoying it and treating women by what they perceive as normal from the movies. Our society has become desensitized and accustomed to accept violence due to the amount it is displayed in movies.
