All of these characteristics have been giving to African American males throughout society and the media just advertises these portrayals defeating the black males character. This source is strong but at the same time contains some weak spots. The weak spots are present without being present. What I mean by this is that instead of just stating what society negatively characterizes the black male as, there should of have been more references to the positive traits that many black men sustain as well. This argument would be better recognized having two sides of the party to differentiate
The gaming industry evolves and becomes an aspect of what the world represents. Today, gaming is not only for entertainment purposes, but also a stimulator, an educational tool, a messenger. Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the games that most critics criticized because of many representations in some aspects – violence, racism, crime, poverty, etc. The game becomes a tool to give people an idea that materialism sometimes affects a person’s life. Lots of problems occur in the society which is closely related to the game itself, and the game emphasized these issues.
The Fresh Outlook seems to be a newer type of talk show, that isn’t as well-known as ABC News. However, The Fresh Outlook has guest speakers that are well known, this helps bring bigger audiences. I believe that the authors made a great point in their videos. I also think that these videos were made in ways that will extremely help people that are also being affected by these “personal demons”. The videos are made in a way that help make people better aware of the affects these harmful substances can have on anyone’s life.
Although, media mostly responds to the negative stories, they cover the positive ones too. The media can influence society by proving more coverage when people in all cultures and races come together in certain situations to help with the act of kindness. For example, during an event that someone needs help all people come together to help regardless of race, ethnicity, color, religion, or other factors. The media is also coming out with more television shows and movies that portray actors of all nationalities, sexual orientations, gender, beliefs, and culture that once were prohibit. These shows and movies help the acceptance into society.
Opening: I believe that Media promotes racial stereotypes. Stereotype means a simplified or standardized conception and/or image of a particular group. There are several stereotypes perpetuated by different media outlets that highly influence the way that the every day person thinks or feels about particular groups of people. Both convergence and interactivity have impacted on the growth and increasing diversity of the new media on society creating a participatory culture where media producers and media consumers interact with each other. The obvious downside to the medias role in our political endeavors, is the continuos bias that it portrays, the high cost to run any sort of political or public directive, and that they simply operate under the initiative of profit. The amount of money required to reach citizens with political messages has spiraled upward and now dominates political campaigns. Television formats favor short, emotional appeals over reasoned, thoughtful debate. Typical claims of liberal or conservative bias are most often in the eyes of the beholder, however the levels of managed news, spin and journalistic punditry feed these perceptions of bias in the news. As a result, the deeper biases reflected in sensationalism often leave citizens confused about issues which forces them to deconstruct this alternately managed and frenzied news in order to make sound judgements about their society and government.
STDs, fighting fatalities and injuries, and jail time are real threats to those who choose to live in the false grandeur of a Hollywood life. The Ugly Face of Entertainment Entertainment tempers people's hectic pace of life, preserves sanity, and serves as a vehicle for socialization. In an age of technology, however, new entertainment has invaded society and rotted morals. Television, computer and video games, movies, and others have placed an unhealthy emphasis on indulgence and violence. By capitalizing on thrillers like aggression, much of entertainment has distorted human character and promoted violence.
The development of cultural competency created social change in the U.S during the times of the Civil Rights era. There were so many drastic forms of trying to show injustice such as freedom rides, boycotts, and sit ins. Americans believed that their system was that of freedom for all and equal opportunities. The Civil Rights movement changed so much in society, the way people thought and felt make a big difference.
