Francisco Leyva Music Appreciation Whitney Holly 18 September 2011 Enrique Iglesias Enrique Iglesias was born Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler on the 8th of May in the year 1975. His birthplace was Madrid, Spain and his parents were the famous singer Julio Iglesias and Isabel Preysler and his brother was Julio Iglesias Jr. Enrique Iglesias created a career of his own without the help of his father, and in fact he did it quietly behind his back while borrowing money from his nanny and making his first demo. After the demo was finished, it eventually found its way into the hands of his father’s publicist and then he and Enrique began to promote his songs to the public under a different name. Many of his songs from the first album are still famous today. But today we are going to discuss his album “Escape”, and a few of the songs that are from the album. Enrique Iglesias had many songs on his album “Escape”, released in 2001 and the songs we are going to discuss include “Escape”, “Hero”, and “Don’t Turn off the Lights”. To begin, “Escape”, the song starts out with a simple beat from the guitar, and is later followed by the counter melody of the drums. The catchy chorus, “If you feel like leaving, I’m not going to beg you to stay, cause soon you’ll be finding, you can run, you can hide but you cant escape my love”. This particular piece of the song is what most of the audience would recognize and think about this unique song from Enrique Iglesias. The tempo of the song is moderato and the dynamic for the majority of the song is mezzo forte, but there are a few parts that have the dynamics of mezzo piano. At the end of the song there are high notes that he has to sing. The second song from the album “Escape“ is “Hero”.
