1 Returning to School Brandi Workman ENG 121 Sara Keller November 8th 2011 Making the decision on returning back to school. Reaching my goals in life and never giving up. Believing in myself to always push forward and never give up. Knowing I am never too old to return back to school. Setting an inspiring example for my daughter. No mountain is too high to climb as long as you have the right tools to climb. Returning to school was probably one of the hardest things I have ever done. Having an 8 year old daughter she is the most important part of my life and the reason I wanted to return to school, but she was also the reason it was so difficult to go back. She is in school now and has homework that she needs help with almost every night. I have to make sure dinner is on the table, the dishes are done, and that she has had bath. And let’s not forget about that growing mound of laundry that keeps calling my name. There are always clothes to be washed, dried, or my least favorite folded and put away. We try to read a book together at night before bed, but this doesn’t always happen. I knew before returning to school that it would be hard to accomplish everything, but somehow I will find the time to be a good mommy as well as a good student. Being a single mother I have always wanted more for my child and myself. I got married while I was in high school and put off going to college to start a family that I always had wanted. I got a job working full time at Wal-Mart; I started out on third shift as a sales associate. Later I became pregnant with Abby my daughter and there was no way I could go to college, take care of a new baby and run a household all at once. So I put going to school on hold for the time being. So I eventually quit my job, because I knew this was not what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. After three years of having
