At this point, I think it depends on what are your reading interests and how reading meets your interpretation skills to be understood or to get you involved on its field. I have always been a thinker, but throughout my coursework, I have sharpened my critical analysis skills and I like to read more books than I did before. First time that I started to read it was in my first grade. I was so excited at the time and I felt like a hero. My first teacher, Luljeta, was a big help to put me in the track.
Most ones I would have liked were too advanced for me, so I wouldn’t have been able to read them. Throughout my childhood reading was not my strong point in school, but I learned to be a much better reader. I have become a better reader now with lots of hard work and reading still affects my everyday life. Now a days I will sometimes read for fun and books for school too. During school when I read I sometimes struggle on larger words or ones I don’t know, but I work very hard and it pays off.
When I eventually transferred to public schools, the issues that everyone overlooked because they were not an obvious problem for me really came back to haunt me when I was assigned any sort of extensive writing assignment. I continued to take reading classes in public school. Fortunately, I managed to get through my English classes and graduate high school never expecting to have to write any sort of paper again. While I thought that to be true for the first two years out of high school, that proved to be a poor mindset to have. June
The pencil hit the paper, and before I knew it I was finished. Looking back I can still remember reading my story over and over. It was an accomplishment that I was proud of. This is when I really started to enjoy writing. High school came next, and writing had become all about research papers.
Throughout the duration of this class, I have been highly reflective on my work, but have failed to take into consideration past mistakes when developing new assignments. From the Personal Narrative Essay to the Destination Essay, common errors have take place amongst them all. Specifically, I have struggled to make the syntax of my essays less confusing and allow my explanations to be more detailed, but have always been successful in sharing interesting ideas with the audience. The first way that I have struggled to become more flexible and self-aware is by the lack of using correct syntax. Within almost every essay written during first semester, I came across multiple comments made by you that reflect my difficulty creating sentences
I’ve always been a person with a growth mindset, I can thank my dad for that, and this book just seemed to be a great fit for the type of reading that I do for fun outside of school ,so I felt it would be the best fit for me. As I began reading this book, I had already learned about the immense power of effort and where the right amount of concentrated and well preformed effort could take anyone. However, I had no idea of this “fixed mindset” which caused people to believe that effort was not as powerful, as I know it to be, but actually bad. I learned so much about the extent that the fixed mindset can take you. It can take someone who as all the talent in the world, such as one of my personal heroes Billy Beane, and force them to fail at their true dream and passion.
Growing up as a child, I would always depend on writing as a getaway from society. I would write whatever came to my imagination and bought it to life with just a paper and an ink pen. Writing was a tool that was very beneficial to me during my teenage years and even now in my adult years. I have had some experiences that were both good and bad when it came to writing, but nonetheless, writing became my forte in my English courses. The feeling that I have when writing is a very joyous one because it is my nonverbal communication to express my emotions and thoughts without the critism of the outside world.
My Self Discovery was learning that I’ve been stuck in the same pattern for a long time, even though that pattern never worked out for me. Now I have the tools and information to change the way I think, and to change how it will affect my life. My learning style has been the most helpful to me in my day to day school work. Notes I never knew how detailed note taking can be. After reading how the note taking process flows, the overall concept is so important.
Gerson Guevarra Professor Juarez English A: MW 9:30 am November 29, 2010 My Journey to Reading and Writing (Re-write) Reading is a natural habit that most people will learn in life. Everybody learns differently however. Some may be faster than others, and some may be slower. The reading process as a whole is a very complex area, and is constantly changing. For me, reading and comprehending has been a challenge throughout my life from learning to speak English as a language, finding the interest for reading, and being able to understand the things I read.
Reading and Writing: A Life Experience Throughout my life, reading and writing have been important to my success in school, and usually I would only read and write when it was necessary for school. I rarely read outside of school, and when I did, it was to get some kind of information that I wanted to know, whether it be a score from a game I missed or an article about something I was interested in. Throughout my life, there have been many influences that have changed me as a reader and writer but, there are three in particular; my 12th grade English teacher Dr. Mikulics, a trip to the Pomona Library, and the TV show Game of Thrones that I believe have had the greatest impact on me as a reader and writer. My greatest influence in becoming a better writer is my 12th grade English teacher Dr. Mikulics. Before I had his class, I was a subpar writer at best and had not really improved my writing since my freshman year.
