Endangered Species We all have heard of endangered animals or plants, but probably have never given it much thought. The meaning of endangered species is, a plant, animal, or organism that is in danger of becoming extinct or whose habitat has been disturbed which causes the species to try find a more suitable dwelling place, or the introduction of another species that is a predator or human that causes destruction to that species habitat. Habitat is where a species live, eat and raise their young. There are many causes for a species to become extinct. For animals, they are illegally hunted, which is also known as poaching. That is that hunters disregard the laws that governs the limit of animal that they are allowed to hunt, as a result animal populations numbers are decreased. Legal fishing, hunting, and gathering of wild species can lead to population reduction. Transplanting plants, insects and animals to a place where they did not naturally evolve. Human have contributed to the significant changes in the natural environment all over the world, which has had a negative effect on wildlife. Natural factors such as sudden climate change, or catastrophic events like volcano eruptions and earthquakes have driven species to endangerment or extinction. Because of trade of animal parts, many species continue to suffer high rates of exploitation. Today there are high demands for rhino horns and tiger bones in several areas of Asia. Disease and pollution are also factors that threatens various plants and animals. Why preserve endangered plants and animals? More than 40 % of medicines in America come from plants. Preservation of plants and animals is very important, not only because many of these species are beautiful, and can provide economic benefits for us in the future, but because hey already provide us
