Elie Wiesel, the author of Night, grew up in the small Hasidic Community of Sighet in Transylvnia, Romania. He was a rather religious and sentimental young boy, who wanted to be guided in the studies of the cabbala. He asked his father to find him a master, but his father refused, which led to Elie finding himself a master, Moshe the Beadle. Moshe the Beadle was one of the first people to warn the other Jews of what was in store for them. Soon after his warnings other signs of change came about.
Like God, Jews too have a day when they stop work. The Sabbath is a very significant day, and the Jewish people see it as a relaxing family time as well as a holy day, as the Jewish faith is heavily centered on the family. By observing Shabbat, Jews can devote themselves to prayer and Torah study. By studying the Torah, Jews learn how to keep Mitzvot (the commandments). They learn the Jewish values and find out how to apply them to everyday life.
He longed for a clearer understanding of his father, but the most interaction that Art had with his father was through these interviews for the book. By the Sweat of Your Brow: Reflections on Work and the Workplace in Classsic Jewish Thought By David J. Schnall A Written Review Dovid Kupchik Azrieli Graduate School Fall Semester 2011 As a teenager I learned from one of my rabbis that G-D can be found truly everywhere. At that time in my life the challenge was to find spirituality and religion not only in my religious studies but in such meaningful activities such as eating and sports. At my current stage in life I find it relatively easy to find religion and meaning in my family life yet for the other component of my life as a worker/employee I did not have a clear vision of exactly what Judaism has to say about it. Reading the book By the Sweat of Your Brow by Dr David J Schnall has opened my eyes wide open to the depth and detail to what Judaism has to say. While it should really not come as a great surprise as the Torah has more commandments concerning the kashrut of one’s money than the kashrut of food, often those topics do not get emphasized.

The participants involved in the study were taught a religious studies lesson and then walked to their next class, either with a feeling of high or low urgency about getting to their next class. On their way to their next class they were purposely encountered by an injured man in the corridor. The results showed that those in a low urgency situation were much more helpful, compared to only 10% of participants in a high urgency situation who helped the man. ‘Good Samaritanism’ initially originated from the Bible, as the story known as the parable of the Good Samaritan that our society has adopted as a model for how citizens should behave. It was a story of how a Samaritan helped a man who had been beaten by a gang of ancient thugs, while a priest and Levite just passed by without helping the victim.
Autopsies are not to be performed on Jewish patients. Burials usually happen quickly. A family representative is present with the deceased throughout until burial recite prayers and read psalms. Often, a dismembered part will be requested for burial. Since the value of life is held with great regard, often if a lifesaving surgery or organ donation fall on the Sabbath, a Rabbi may determine the moral decision.
In January of 2009 when I became Christian, I decide to study the Bible will my curiosity of not knowing the purpose of Halloween had push me to read the hole bible to find answers of all those questions I had about Halloween since I was little and, also to know the true purpose of God of what he wants from me and what he expects about his children to glorify his name. Prayers where my only exit to obtain revelation from God about this reality and to stop this confusion of what I had. When my prayers where answer by God I begin to under stand the bible even more and, that is when I begin to find the real purpose of Halloween. That really took my breath away.
