2. Role requirements: This key part deals with fairness, which is what my core values are all about. Assuring that individuals are treated fairly. I prioritize the value of equality. My primer concern is the well-being of my whole community.
It is said that virtue ethics measures a person by his or her character and moral standing within a community in determination of his or her good. With utilitarianism, a person is a good and moral person when his actions benefit the needs of the community over personal needs. Another words, you serve everyone else around you before you even think of helping yourself. Being unselfish is being utilitarianism. The same thing can be said about deontology, a person is good and moral when his choice of action within a community is inherently moral and good or they do the right thing.
ETHICAL LENS INVENTORY Ethical lens Inventory is used as a way to identify what values are more important to us as an individual. The inventory allows us to see ethical issues clearly whenever we have ethical dilemma without clear option/choice and it also helps to learn how to resolve them better.People have different priorities and different values helps to respect each others point of views. There are four primary ethical perspectives. Two of them are to help us to determine using Rationality(critical thinking ) are: 1)Rights&Responsibility Lens:you use your rationality to how to live with universal rules. 2)Relationship Lens:Its about equality of community so that everybody gets treated fairly. The other two of the ethical lenses are using your Sensibility (Intuition) which means using your intuition and emotions for our behavior to be ethical are : 1)Results Lens:using your sensibility to decide your decisions which will make you happy and adds more happiness to your life.
The six pillars of characteristics are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Trustworthiness is being honest and loyal to your family, friends, and your country. Respect is being tolerant and accepting differences of others. Responsibility is being accountable for your actions, words, and attitude. Fairness is being open minded and giving everyone an equal chance.
It means treating people as individuals, with different skills and abilities, without making judgment based on stereotypes. It is based on fair equal, and courteous opportunities to all individuals, it should include the principle of treating people with fairness. It should also create a way of life where people of all backgrounds can feel appreciated and valued, and should be well established in health and social care services. The word diverse means “varied and different” so “diversity” is about more than equality. It is about valuing variety and individual differences and creating a culture, environment and practices which respect and value differences for the benefit of society, organisations and individuals.
One of the best things a psychologist can do for the profession is to understand, implement, and act with the highest ethical standards. The APA sets forth aspirational principles that push every psychologist to reach for an ultimate level of ethical service. This requires the psychologist: avoids harm, acts responsibly, performs their duties with integrity, seeks justice for all, and respect the rights and dignity of all (American Psychological Association, 2010). Special attention must be given to the word “all” especially when working with minors. In our society everyone has legal rights and is entitled to fair and ethical treatment.
REGARDLESS OF THE SITUATION THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR HUMAN DECORUM SHOULD BE UPHELD AT ALL TIMES. EVERY INDIVIDUAL HAS A FUNDAMENTAL VALUE THAT HE OR SHE IS ENTITLED TO. SO IF THERE IS A SET OF POLICIES OR SOCIETAL TRADITIONS FOCUSED ON WHAT IS BEST FOR THE COMMUNITY BUT REPUDIATES PROSPECTS IN WHICH HE OR SHE IS ENTITLED AS AN INDIVIDUAL IT IS NOT ETHICAL. ALTHOUGH PROFESSIONAL WORK DOES NOT NECESSARILY REQUIRE THAT INDIVIDUALS GIVE UP THEIR PERSONAL ETHICS, IT OFTEN DOES MEAN THAT THEY HAVE TO ADOPT ADDITIONAL STANDARDS (RUGGIERO, 2008). PROFESSIONAL ETHICS INCLUDE IMPARTIALITY, CONFIDENTIALITY, DISCLOSURE, AND FIDELITY TO PROFESSIONALS.
It says that my gift is compassion and that is true because I am compassionate about the things I want and am trying to accomplish in life and I show compassion towards others and their problems. The Ethical Lens said that I define an ethical person as one with sound character traits and habits of thoughtful reflection. It also said that I believe that those who demonstrate strong leadership in their roles and who encourage others to do the same exemplify ethical behavior. I would have to agree with this assessment because I definitely expect others to display this type of ethical behavior. Though I know this is expected of people, I am however, not nieve to how people can really be.
It is right to be loyal. 2. Individual vs. Community: should I base my decision on what benefits me or what benefits the larger community? It is right to consider the individual. It is right to consider the community.
Services should be person-centred, seamless and proactive. They should support independence, not dependence and allow everyone to enjoy a good quality of life, including the ability to contribute fully to our communities. They should treat people with respect and dignity and support them in overcoming barriers to inclusion. They should be tailored to the religious, cultural and ethnic needs of individuals. They should focus on positive outcomes and well-being, and work proactively to include the most disadvantaged groups.
