1. How might top management have done a better job changing Elektra Products into a new kind of organization? What might they do now to get the empowerment process back on track? Elektra Products aims a new era of change in its organization by involving and empowering its employees. A lot of its employees were in the company for more than 20 years; they are loyal to the company but have the obstacle to do empowerment efforts. “Be the Change” – the top management must understand that the only path to great results is by having staffs that are deeply invested and motivated in the direction of the new organization. Effective empowerment can be attained by allowing its members to be involve in important discussions about the course of the organization. Leaders should share responsibility broadly and equally so that members won’t feel left out. Being transparent about their shortcomings and always aiming for improvement. The success of the organization is its people. Leaders should bring out the best in each employee and search those not only have the talent and knowledge but also the passion and dedication to strive harder. Develop them and retain those who deliver excellence and to transition out those who don’t. Empowerment leads to a greater employee commitment to the organization goals because they can take some degree of ownership in the decisions made towards achieving its goals. The top management must establish specific roles and responsibilities with its employees so that all are clear and can work together cooperatively; Leaders should appreciate employees’ efforts. They need to feel that leaders appreciate their contribution and value their participation. 2.
