He shows that the passage in Acts includes evangelism, teaching, service, and worship of God. There are lots of different interpretations of which source of morality is the greatest for use within the contemporary world. There are also two main categories these sources fall into; intellectual or instinctual. The Bible “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, in order that the man of God may be fully qualified, equipped for every good work.” For orthodox Protestants (Jehovah’s witnesses) and Evangelical Christians they affirm the Bible, first and foremost, as the inspired narrative of God's loving plan of redemption for His creation. These sects of Christianity tend to believe that the Bible is the only method that should be used when making ethical decisions, with writer Carl F. H. Henry calling ‘biblical ethics’ ‘Christian ethics.’ There is a diversity of approaches in the Bible which Christians can use to make ethical decisions; the Old Testament which includes the Decalogue, many of which have been applied in practical law today (‘thou shalt not kill’); and the New Testament involving the teachings of Jesus and St. Paul and the Golden Rule (‘treat others how you’d like to be treated’). The Church needs to think about the apathy that frequents the locals, in the communities who choose not to come to a regular worship service. Alan Billings has written a book entitled, “Secular Lives, Sacred Hearts, The role of the Church in a time of no religion”. This book encapsulates the dilemma the Church is in and consequently the demise of a generation of Church goers. But, this book does offer hope for the spirituality of those who do not attend church regularly.
He does draw up excellent characteristics of a Christian leader than can be transposed into any culture. I felt this needed expounding a little more. What became apparent as I read further into the book was his passion to recover missional leadership in missional churches. As a Christian chaplain candidate, My desire is to wear the cross, and my actions speak volumes about my faith. Because of some of the restrictions on direct evangelism, the most important call is to show Christ through my life, and allow others to ask the questions. The Holy Spirit will work through both our words and our actions. People have to understand that the chaplaincy in the United States Military has a long history dating back to the Revolution. The role of the chaplain has changed considerably.
Many other forms of counseling approaches have a tendency to be to direct and have the potential to become theological based rather than spiritually based. The difference in the two years everyone will have a different theology as it pertains to the word of God. All Christians must have the same spirituality when it comes to the word of God. Spiritual Services: The sacraments were a sacred ritual of the church and they were the only way to avoid eternal suffering in hell. By participation in the sacraments and following your faith you could avoid that eternal suffering. Political Powers: The Church has absolute power over the religious life of Christians in the middle ages. The church had created its own set of laws, which applied to religious teachings, behavior of the clergy and it also provided morals for life and marriage.
As a Christian our lives are to serve and obey God’s Laws his commandments and the purpose is to get into heaven. This and now is only a test to see if your worthy to enter and inherit his praise. In conclusion: The overall view of this module I learned about the Christian Worldview and how Christianity is viewed in the world.
