Cyber bullying is worse than normal bullying because it occurs on the internet, which is a much larger scale. The internet has become very common in today's society. It has played a major role in the social lives of many children. They are able to shop, communicate, and make good friends just by using the internet. People are also able to distribute information to a lot of people in very little time.
However, the documentary fails to acknowledge how the internet has helped kids by providing ways to find answers and acquire research and knowledge. Instead of exploring all the negatives found from the internet and kids growing up with the internet, the positives should also be discovered. The Frontline documentary also revealed that the internet has allowed kids to escape reality by having a “life” online. The internet helps kids express themselves through websites like MySpace, Facebook and blogs. The documentary goes on about how by letting the students have a life outside of reality can cause kids to have insecurity issues and have negative images for themselves.
While there are positive outcomes of the internet, there still exist dangerous aspects to it, such as bullying. Most people may associate bullying with images of a teenager getting slammed into a locker, or getting their lunch money stolen. People may also think that it extends to name calling, teasing, and insults. Bullying has existed for a long time, with some adults thinking that it is a normal part of growing up, that teaches young adults to toughen up and have a thick skin, thinking this will help when they become adults. However, with the advancement in technology and its wide use, a new type of bullying has developed, cyberbullying, which is when a person uses technology and/or electronic devices to bully another person, typically by sending messages or posting comments of an intimidating or threatening nature.
In many games, kids are rewarded for being more violent. The act of violence is done repeatedly. The child is in control of the violence and experiences the violence in his own eyes including killings, kicking, stabbing and shooting. This active participation, repetition and reward are effective tools for learning behavior. Indeed, many studies seem to indicate that violent video games may be related to aggressive behavior (Main #2) Too much video game playing makes your kid socially isolated.
Children are meeting sexual predators on the internet and forming relationships with them and unknowingly allowing them into their lives. Parents must talk to their children about the dangers of the internet. Technology is a great learning tool for them and they will be far more advanced than we were as children, but it also opens the door for unwanted predators who will take advantage of children. With a society more focused on wealth and having a good job and long lasting careers some children are often left in the care of daycare providers. You can often look on the internet and find video after video of the abuse and neglect that goes on in daycares.

The internet can be a valuable tool for both educational and social reasons, but there are some serious risks associated with using the internet, mobile phones and other similar technologies. Bullying victims can have a lot of stress added on and it can lead to retaliation such as school shootings as well as suicide. Cyber bullying is the more modern type of bullying and some argue that it's the most harmful. When it comes to cyber bullying anyone can become the bully. The small scrawny kid can be just as harmful as the big kid on the playground. Cyber bullying can have a longer lasting effect on the victim.
Ziara Battle 1/29/13 Dr.Chevaillier 1102- 02 Violent Media Is Good for Kids- Gerard Jones Summary The article written by Gerard Jones “Violent Media Is Good for Kids” was about how violent media can help children cope with rage. Violence plays a huge role in children’s development because; it is inevitable within our society. Being exposed to violence can be a way that someone’s chooses to find their identity. In some ways violence also teaches independence through self motivation. It can be both positive and negative but, the outlook on how it affects other is demonstrated by how someone grows to express themselves fully.
“The Power of Words” In modern day society language among people has really evolved in recent years, especially of a child’s vocabulary. Nowadays the language of children is more vulgar, abrasive, and rude and it hits children like bullets. A lot of the usage of these vulgar words do reflect the background that the children of today come from as well. But being of an adolescent mind the effect I see from children using hurtful language is verbally abusing their peers with out sense of how much words can really hurt. Even though there is a quote, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” But on the contrary in many cases as seen on the playground words do hurt, and not only do they hurt, they hurt almost as much as physical pain.
Illness and untreated health issues, delay in development. There are risk and possible consequences for children and young people using the internet, mobile phones and other technologies. There are significant risks of sexual and emotional abuse in the “virtual” world. As the majority of children and young people have easy access to the internet via computers or mobile phones it is important that they are made aware of the risks and are taught how to protect themselves. Risks can be giving out personal information, or accepting inappropriate information.
