Rahel Gizachew Argumentative Essay Effects of Television Children and adults alike seem to be more influenced by television daily. In the age of Cable and Satellite Television, it’s getting harder and harder to get kids especially to move away from the television. But the problem is that over the years family shows have basically began to disappear and television is filled with shows full of cursing and sexual content. There are conflicts within the family when it comes time to go do homework or to go to bed, because children want to sit in front of the television. It also has help to turn our society into a society of couch potatoes, men and women that do not want to anything other than watch the television. When it comes to teens, what they see on television, they tend to take at face value and when they walk out of the house, they try to imitate what they saw on television and this creates serious problems at times. Television is having a negative impact on our children, as well as our family structure and on basically the entire society. We need to find a way to censor television or to get adults and our children to limit or stop watching television before it gets completely out of hand. Television is having a negative effect on our children. Our children would rather watch television than to go outside and interact with their friends. They put television before homework, chores and doing any other activity that would require them to move away from the television. School work suffers and the child begins to start to lose attention in school and their grades reflect the same. Once they get behind in school, it can be a very hard task to get them back up to speed again. If children are left unsupervised in the modern day, with cable and satellite television in almost every home, they can access sexual content and they can watch shows that makes them feel
