Assess the view that differences in educational achievement between ethnic groups are primarily the result of discrimination in schools [20] In terms of educational achievement, there is evidence of inequalities among different ethnic groups. For example, Whites and Asians on average do better than Blacks. Some would say that this is primarily the result of discrimination in schools, an internal factor. However this is not the case as it is due to external factors such as the influence of home and family background and wider society. On the one hand it could be said that it is down to discrimination in schools that there is evidence of ethnic differences in educational achievement.
In the South however, the blacks were disfranchised, since the state governments introduced literacy tests, tests on the knowledge of constitution and Poll taxes, which African Americans had trouble with, because of poor education and financial problems. Both created through discrimination and racism. Racial hatred groups such as the Ku Klux Klan still existed. They advertised violent treatment of African Americans, and often engaged in violent activities themselves. Blacks were often beaten or killed by members of such hate groups.

Wright had to realize the harsh realities of the consequences of being a black man in the early 1900s. In that time, many blacks were tortured for the simple fact that they were not white. The Supreme Court argued that the segregation of education had a negative effect on those who were black as it made them feel less worthy and could influence low self-esteem among those who were black. The Supreme Court realised other important things such as the fact that America was changing as were the attitudes of some Americans as there was a growth in black middle class, they also realised that for over 60 years the Southern States had failed to provide education that was actually equal, they became aware that the education that they were providing for blacks did not meet the ideals that they were fighting for in the Cold War and lastly the verdict of the supreme court was reached because of a change of leadership in the Supreme Court, the new leader Earl Warren was much more sympathetic towards civil rights than the
African Americans and the Quest to Attain Equality and Civil Rights The Fight for African Americans to end segregation, discrimination, and isolation to attain equality and civil rights has been a long hard and more often than what we would like to think a somewhat violent campaign. One would think that something as simple as the treatment of another human being would be a simple thing to accomplish. However, as we can see throughout history it has not been as generation after generation, have taught their children to hate and for what? Something as simple and ridiculous as the color of one’s skin, this consequently became a vicious cycle of hatred and intolerance. We have to ask ourselves, how, did we come to a place where one race felt they were superior to not only African Americans, but American Indians and Asians as well based solely on the color of their skin.
In contrast, Black Americans perceive that racism is a constant reality in their lives, White individuals continue to respond toward them. Micro-assaults are probably most similar that what has been called “old fashion racism because of their expression is deliberate, conscious, and explicit as seen in many countries around the globe. Racial micro-aggressions are use today towards blacks and Hispanics world-wide. Micro-aggressions reflect an unconscious worldview of White supremacy that directly assails the racial reality of non-White people. Racial micro-aggressions have an accumulative and harmful impact on people of color invalidating them as racial/cultural beings, undermining their spiritual and mental capacity, imposing a false reality on them.
Any country that conquest another country has to impose it culture by obligating its language, religion, and traditions to fully conquest the other country. To many people from the dependent country, it is hard to learn the language imposed because of the lack of good education and experience. The dominant society may think that because of their anatomy or their race they are not able to do so. In the text “Black Children are Verbally Deprived” by Walt Wolfram, the author explains how the North American society supposes that African American has a different English speech because the segregation and the poor education they have had. Nowadays, Puerto Ricans are having the same problems as the African Americans did before with the North Americans in terms of the use of English.
Limitations on Education Social stigmatism has an effect on the choices we make and the way we live our lives. For example, in the black community a high level of education, or speaking in a “white” fashion is something that people can get made fun of for. The high level of poverty in the African-American population in America isn’t solely due to social stigmatism, however. The choices each individual makes will also influence the outcome of their lives. To put it simply, there are two main type of effects on the poverty levels in the black community: structural and behavioral.
To conclude, black people all over the world, wherever they live were for a long time victim of racism for their skin color. People treated them badly only because they had a darker skin color, forgetting that that we are all humans and the color of our skins an where we come from doesn’t indicate our personalities and beliefs. Black in America suffered a lot for reason of racism and went through the hard ships and difficulties
Black Americans were discriminated against in many ways including socially through segregation, politically with vote registrations, economically with low income jobs and poverty and through prejudice; racism. Blacks were treated very harshly and unequally and many lived their lives in fear and misery. During 1954-1961, the Brown vs Board decision, the matter in Little Rock, Arkansas, Freedom Rides, Bus Boycotts, sit-ins, marches and demonstrations were steps that were taken in the Civil Rights Movement to end discrimination. Black Americans were discriminated against socially especially with segregation. They faced different issues related to segregation with one of the most important was the segregation to do with education.
