Support individuals in reducing substance use 4.4 - describe how to manage your own feelings about the individual's progress or lack of this in such a way as to minimise their impact on the support provided. Different conditions may require varying approaches to support self-management. When supporting individuals who are reducing or trying to stop their substance use we need to firstly, remind ourselves that all people are capable of change and possess personal strength and abilities. We must trust that individual's can and will grow in their own time and in their own way. We must be patient and be able to tolerate varying amounts of floundering, confusion and false starts.

M2- Self awareness is the ability to know myself, my abilities, limitation and what is my personality is like. Self awareness is a very important tool to have as it helps me to be conscious of my limits and areas for further development. It is hard to do this with a friend because we may not want the friend to know who we really are. Before we can professionally help others as counsellors, we need to be self aware. This is because of the nature of the role of counsellors.
I have to act in the person’s best interest but instead of encouraging them to avoid risks I have to support them and enable them to taking part in activities. I have to act in the individuals best interest, keep them safe, carry out risk assessments, promote informed choices but also respect their decision and right to live their life as they choose. If the risk seems great to me I would document it and discuss the matter with my manager. Another area where duty of care dilemmas may arise are confidentiality issues. When a confidential information is shared with me and it concerns safeguarding and there is a possibility of harm or someone’s wellbeing is threathened I might have to make a decision and disclose this information.
• The feedback from others has development own knowledge, skills and understanding, feedback can be positive and negative but all feedback points to new to the ways and areas of improvement. Negative feedback must not be rejected but must be taken into account and be turned into something positive, but sometimes may undermine some confidence. The feedback from others points out best ways of doing things, what should not be done and get some pointers of approaching a problem from different angle. 3. know how a personal development plan can contribute to own learning and development 3.1 define the term personal development plan A personal development plan are goals that an individual makes to achieves in doing something specific. The personal development plan includes goals, awareness of strengths and weakness.
With groups it can affect organisations, communities and society as a whole. Even the people who inflict discrimination can be affected by negative impact -they could fail to experience the benefits of diversity, equality and inclusion. It could also affect their broadening of their horizons. Negative impact can be :- Loss of self esteem Poor self image Confusion, anger and depression Disempowerment Loss of motivation, achievement Missed opportunities Marginalisation 1.3 The importance of inclusive practice is it enables people to be valued, confident, feel safe and have all their needs met. They can then participate in society without feeling prejudice or
Your actions and the choices you make will always come with positive or negative consequences. It is important to understand this, and understand that this specific area will directly effect both your personal, and business life. The way in which you communicate with others is one example of this area. When communicating with others, you have to realize not everyone responds in the same way. The way you tell someone to do something, may be ok to one person, but it could be offensive, or threatening to another.
This goal can be set back when other factors exist. Attitudes are negative or positive thoughts that are the influenced by one’s perception of behavior, social events, objects or groups. When developing teams it is important to focus on the attitudes of the team members and manage those attitudes so they can positively influence the team. Team members who have skepticism about the outcome of the new program are exhibiting attitudes of negativity. This negativity can adversely affect the ability of a team to accomplish its goals.
5.4.c Handovers or team meetings are good opportunities to make co-workers aware of the concerns I may have. Maybe together we can find ways of working that minimise distress and discomfort. I may also find that your worries are shared by others and might identify a procedure that needs to be changed. Reporting my concerns is also important. 5.5.a Usually, if someone feels uncomfortable they will move about until they find a more comfortable position.
We need to keep an open mind and understand where the other person is coming from. As a team, we need to learn how to reach a common ground and compromise in order for the task to be successful.
