Moreover, the class took place in one famous music college that was just a few blocks away from my school. I used the appeals of ethos, pathos and logos to become accepted as an essential unit of this discourse community in which I had taken part in. During my three years in the class, I learned much about my instrument and the theory of music. I learned music as a whole new subject and explored the dynamics of learning and playing the keyboard and how to use it to produce good sound! I also learnt the different types of notes, scales, rhythms, tempos, the history of music, the composition of good music, and many more new things which not only made me develop my skills in my instrument but also gave me a thorough review of orchestration music as a whole.
Angie Morocho 11/16/14 Should students at WBA be allowed to listen to music in their core classes? Some parents and teachers think that students who listen to music during their class time will be distracted and won’t be able to focus on the lesson they are being teached. On the other hand, some parents and teachers think that students will do well and are able to focus better. Both sides of the argument have good reasons but I believe students at WBA should be allowed to listen to music in their core classes. Music is believed to help focus better in their task.
MUSIC ETHNOGRAPHY PROJECT World Music Cultures – MUET3030 Purpose: The purpose of this project is to challenge students to engage firsthand with a musical event and to critically reflect upon that event in order to develop deeper insights into the myriad meanings that music has for people. Instructions for Field Research: Students will conduct firsthand observations of a live musical event of their choosing (direct participation is optional). They will interview at least one key participant (preferably more), whether it be a performer, teacher, or audience member who has fairly extensive experience with and/or knowledge of the musical subject matter and the sociocultural context with which it’s associated. Students will also conduct basic research pertaining to the music’s stylistic features, its historical background, and its social, cultural, political, and/or religious significance. Format: 6-7 pages Times New Roman – 12 pt.
I believe that many students need motivations and reasons to do frequent studying, reading, and exercising; therefore frequent in-class exams will give them good reasons and motivations to start reviewing a chapter. Frequent tests will be more efficient in classes that require a lot of readings and memorizing, such as history, politic, geography, etc, because if a student procrastinate his reading until a night before the test, he will be overwhelmed. Another advantage from frequent exams is that students can use their returned exams that have been given feedbacks and the right answers for their study guides to prepare for their midterm or
While I was reading this activity it was unclear at first read why it fit into the lesson. To avoid this, it would be beneficial for the students to be offered an overview of the lesson so that they know they are learning about the importance of images in album artwork and that this will be used in the final project. The final activity and assessment they will be connecting the images of an album artwork to a character, relationship, or theme they have discussed in The One Who Flew the Cuckoo’s Nest. This activity is beneficial to students because it gave specific examples of different album images that promoted different feelings and meanings, and then asks the students to find meaning in the images of their favorite albums. This is helpful because you are setting up personal connections with your students by allowing them to use their personal interests while still staying focused on the

Field trips have included performances at Florida International University – Graham center, for the Major of Doral and at the Coral Gables Caroling Competition. I have also taken students to various concerts including the New World Symphony and the Florida Grand Opera. Q#2: What are the expectations of the educator to identify and what indicators are there those could suggest a pattern of physical or substance abuse by an individual student? 2. Students should be monitored for substance abuse if there are indicators such as extreme drowsiness, change in mood, solitary behavior, extreme extrovert behavior, jittery moves, and lack of cleanliness and loss of weight.
It can be used as “a piece of analysis, a thinking tool, a map.” (Glover & Young p.165) There are different approaches and methods to be considered in learning to play an instrument, that will further play a major part in development of skills and technique. Understanding notation, it seems, has always played a central part in music education, and in learning instruments. However, the ‘need’ to understand notation can be questioned. There is no ‘real’ reason why one can’t become a competant musician, without being able to read or write standard notation. Well known and hugely successful musicians such as Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Paul McCartney, and Jimi Hendrix, perfected their art without the need for notation.
Students will be less focused in school, and less likely to continue their educations, if they dread going to school each day. Including art and music in he curriculum will motivate students, and will inspire them to enjoy school. It will also give them a creative outlet. Many young people have trouble expressing their emotions in words, but find that the can communicate their ideas through music and art. Giving students an opportunity to create every day will keep them engaged in learning, keep frustration at bay, and lead to happier, more fulfilled children.
Having these basic fundamentals down allows the musician to more accurately play the music and sight read better. Throughout high school, I developed these skills until it didn’t take much thought for me to play my major scales up and down full range, then blast through my chromatic scale. I even practiced all forty-eight minor scales. It was the combination of learning to read music as well as performing it
