What were the major developments in the evolution of mass media during the 20th century? In the early 1900’s magazines and newspapers were the main sources of the mass media. Then the radio was introduced to the public in the 1940's. This new form of mass media supplied an instant source of news to reach the public. All though magazines and newspapers were still in demand and still used often. The radio was an easier way to get the new on the go. As well it allowed the development of talk shows, which was a way to introduced personal ideas and thoughts of the news to the public. Latter the television was introduced to the public in the 1950s. Television was something that completely revolutionized the way the mass media interacted with the public and became the main source of resources and information. Not only was it the main source of resources and information, it also allowed the viewers to see and hear what was going on instantaneously. Allowing the public to be aware of what was going on at the time it was happening. For instance, the moon landing was broadcasted live all around the world as it was happening. However before the moon landing accrued. The launch of a satellite in 1962 gave access to world-wide news to allow them to broadcast this event. From then on we have explored and developed many different forms of communication. Starting with the development of the mobile phone, then the personal computer, after that the Internet. The process continues to keep growing and dos not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. How did each development influence American culture?
