Why I Chose to Write on My Topic
My selection of researching on marijuana comes from curiosity and from personal experience with the plant. My personal experience with the plant is extremely minimal but rather for people the around me that use the plant. I’ve been raised in an extremely healthy family.   As far as I know, no one has used any type of gateway drug in my family. Though my parents never really talked to me about the implications of drugs, I personally stayed away from them because of my involvement in sports.
My curiosity to do research on the plant comes from, friends using the plant on a regular basis. People say that it’s not a drug that you can get addicted to. Well I believe theirs something in the brain that becomes reliant on the increased production of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol.) THC is the main psychoactive substance found in the hemp plant Cannabis Sativa, or marijuana.
Through my research I intend to find out what kind of effect this drug has on the brain. I want to know why it makes people do things that it does. Such as, from personal experience make them lazy in some cases, hungry, and hallucinate.
Friends that do the drug didn’t always do the drug. I remember like it was yesterday… One of the guys on the football team used to do it all the time, and used to talk about how cool it was. “Cool,” I did not understand, because as far as I knew marijuana was a drug, and drugs were bad. tried it and as I watched I some lives being thrown away. In the near future, I saw some of the lives completely change for the worse.
I saw them stop coming to school, potential collegiate athletes become so lazy that they started to flunk out of school. One friend in particular, he was an all state line man and he stopped playing football because of marijuana. I know...
