Jeremy Lowe Kate Baker College Writing 4-16-12 The Effects of Exercise It is pretty obvious in the world today that exercise plays a big role in the health of the human body. With fast food chains growing and with new technology making things much easier, it seems to quite simple for people to get out of shape quick. This means that is important that people still recognize the physical, mental, and social effects of exercising and being physically fit. These are the three main things that can be immediately affected by physical activity. Exercising can be a great way to boost confidence levels, balance energy levels, and overall just make a person feel better about themselves. The most obvious and probably the most desirable effect of exercise is the physical changes that one would see after they started to exercise. They might notice that their pants might start falling down a bit from weight loss. They might notice muscles that weren’t so noticeable before, or maybe it will be easier to get of bed in the morning because of the increased energy one might feel. Another very important benefit from exercising is the effects it has on the heart and cardiovascular system. Like all muscles the heart gets stronger with increased activity and movement, making it easier and more effective in doing its job; which is to circulate blood throughout the body. Exercise will keep the heart pumping blood and oxygen throughout the body at its maximum potential and will reduce the stress that is put on it, drastically reducing the risk of heart disease. It will also improve cholesterol and fat levels, reduce inflammation in the arteries, and help to keep blood vessels flexible and open. All of these things will lead to a healthier heart and a healthier lifestyle in the end. Another one of the benefits of physical activity is the effects that it will have on a person mentally.
