The reason people communicate is to get to know each other and to understand others so they can build relationships. This can also help to identify their needs. Also communicating is a good way to be able to give and receive information. It is important to observe an individual’s reaction because you can the see if they understand what you are telling and saying to them, also to see if they were paying attention to what you were saying or asking them to do. By observing you can get to see if they have any emotions and to see what mood they are in e.g. (happy or sad), this can be seen through their body language which can give an indication on how they are feeling or thinking. 2.1) Finding out an individual’s communication and language needs, wishes and preferences. The way you could find out an individuals language needs, wishes and preferences is to do some research on that person, this can be done by talking to the parents and maybe asking for previous records, if they have any. Or you can go through agencies who have shared records asking them to send information via emails, letters or speaking to them over the telephone. Direct observation of an individual can also indicate communication needs. E.G. if someone has a hearing aid you know they have a hearing
