To express needs 4. To share information Aii Explain how effective communication can affect relationships in an adult social care setting between: a) Colleagues and other professionals Effective communication is important as all staff members and professionals will be up to date and therefore able to provide the best support possible. They will also be consistent with the way in which they provide their support. b) Individuals using the service and their carers Effective communication is important for individuals using the service and their carer’s as it helps to build trust. Service users are more likely to confide in carers which they trust and therefore will help to build their working professional relationship.
Effective communication affects all aspects of work as it is a way of developing personal relationships with service users and their families so you are able to meet their needs. It is important to develop positive relationships with work colleagues and other professionals, sharing information and having the information you need to be able to report on your work. This can only be achieved through effective communication. It is important to use different types of communication such as verbal, non verbal (body language, expression, signs, symbols or other visual aids) to clearly understand an individual’s needs and wishes. 1.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them.
By fully supporting service users with specific communication needs you are able to support their rights. 3. It is difficult and frustrating to communicate effectively when there is background noise, therefore arranging the environment to aid communication is very important step to achieving effective communication with service users. As a carer you should arrange the individual’s environment to facilitate effective communication and
Family plays an important role in our emotional, physical and spiritual development since each individual in the family system impacts and is impacted by the others. Family therapy is also imperative for this family it will help the family resolve a specific issue and help address the role that family plays in an individual’s life. Family therapy will help them to understand how their family functions, improve communication skills, make the entire family stronger and identify strengths and weaknesses within the family system and set goals and develop strategies to resolve challenges. (Family Therapy What Is It? 2011) I recommend daycare for the children.
Unit 517.1 Person centred practice is the process by which the approach of care is purposely designed to assist a service user to help plan their life with support. It is a very important process and is used to enable individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities as a way to increase their independence and self-determination. The term 'person-centred care' does exactly what it says - it essentially places the person at the heart of everything that the care worker and the care setting do. The individual's needs and emotions are the focal point, and any difficulties are resolved in the individual’s best interests. It places the person at the centre of all - thinking, discussions, processes and procedures.
This is the most important relationship to establish and maintain because the service user needs to be able to trust you and feel safe. Aiii Explain why it is important that social care workers work in partnership with individuals using the service and their family. It is very important that you work in partnership with the service user and their family because they may be able to provide useful information to support you in your work and you may be able to provide useful information to support them being part of the individuals life. If there are communication barriers with the service user, a family member can share information with you about how you can better communicate with the service user. They can make you aware of dietary restrictions, preferences and dislikes so it is essential to establish and maintain a good relationship with a service users friends and family.
Trust is essential as care staff deal with every part of a service user’s life including very intimate personal care. 2.2. DESCIBE THE FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN PROMOTING EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION The factors to consider when promoting effective communication are as follows : Verbal communication. The tone the volume of your voice would need to be correct to suit individual situations. Also the speed at which you talk is a factor.

Good relationships, clear communication and common goals between parents and practitioners are crucial to the successful delivery of an effective service. Every major legislative or policy document contains reference to ‘partnership’ and the importance of ensuring that parents are informed about and involved in strategies and approaches to the care and education of their child. Partnership with parents is based on the belief that good working relationship, clear and mutual communication and common goals between parents and professionals are crucial to the successful delivery of effective services to children. MacLeod-Brudnell (2004, p.412). Partnership with parents should be a key aspect of provision.
Communication Opinion Lanita Poindexter HCS/320 June 22, 2014 Cecelia Sawyer Communication is a part of our everyday lives. When a person recognizes the importance of communication he or she gains a better understanding of themselves as well as others. Communication is one of the key aspects in a relationship, the workplace, and school environment. Communication is not only important but without it human life would be non-existent. A person has to be able to communicate on a personal level both verbally and non-verbally.
