It is also for sharing ones thoughts, feelings, needs and ideas. Communication in the workplace is very important as this allows people to pass on varied information to all staff, therefore ensuring consistency. * 1.2 Lack of communication in the workplace can result in relationships being strained and unfulfilled, it is very important that there is good communication between all members of staff as this ensures things run well and mistakes are not made and things are not overlooked.
1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work. Within the care home I work in I communicate by, having handover with colleagues before the start of the shift. Communication is important as it ensures all information is passed over clear, accurate, non - judgmental and informative, doing this reduces the possibility of mistakes being made and ensuring appropriate care service delivery. It is important to work as a team with colleagues so that you all work to achieve the same outcomes and targets. 1.3 Explain why is it important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them.
Communication between colleagues is essential, so that it ensures a continuity of care for the patient and all staff are aware of the current needs for the patient. 1.2 Effective communication is important as it ensures that all the information is clear, accurate, non-judgmental, and informative. During my shift I would by communicating with others with handovers to other colleagues, electronically via PDAs or the terrafix system and over telephones.
2.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them – It is important to observe an individual’s behaviour because their body language is also a form of communication. Communication is a two way process called an interaction and it is important to observe people as you deal with them. As a carer we must be good communicators, this means much more than just talking to people. We must communicate through speaking, facial expressions, body language and gestures to name a few. 2.
Building trust with parents or carers will result in them knowing that the nursery is a very good place for their child as it offers a great amount of help and support, which is especially important for new parents or carers. Other professionals It is also important to partner with other professionals as they will offer the support and services, where needed, to improve the overall development of the child. For example, a speech and language therapist may assist a child with communication difficulties. Another example would be a play therapist to diagnose, prevent or resolve a child with psychosocial challenges. Multi-disciplinary teams It is very important that everyone in a multi disciplinary team work in partnership.
When communicating with service users, families and outside agency’s I use a wide range of communication methods including total communication aids to collate as much information as possible so that I can prepare the best care package for the individual and so the support team have all the information they need. This helps me keep up a good standard of communication skills and methods within my job role, this also enables me to keep up good positive rapports and relationships whilst building a trust with each individual that I work with.
