The threat of terrorist attacks changed American culture immensely; the devastation wakened the need for protection and a sense of security. Dramatic measures were taken in order to protect this country, so foreign relations were severely affected. Post 9/11 government saw the “link between immigration and security”, and that by changing foreign policy it would “reduce the likelihood of future attacks” (Krikorian 567).The safety measure in airports were countless from metal detectors to full body scans. “The immigration system has being penetrated by the enemy”, the officials realized which led to unfair accusation of innocents (Krikorian 568). “Overzealous officials” grill suspicious foreigners “to the point of near panic” (Khan 559).

Bush also told Americans by invading Iraq he would bring a democracy to their country to better the policies and enforce democratic beliefs in their country. The role of the media plays an imminent part in the run up to the war in Iraq. The media repeatedly showed the planes crashing into the World Trade Centers. People were watching this horrific act being shown on every news channel for weeks after the attacks occurred.
Introduction The events of September 11th 2001 have cause a major alteration in the world. After 9/11 many countries throughout the world have increased security in airports and country borders, and increased security in main areas of major cities. The biggest consequence of 9/11 however was the USA’s war on terror. I saw that the more people were informed about the issues going on in Iraq, people would strike back, such as the Arabians. In various parts of the film there are many clips that show Iraqi people angry and shouting things about the war and so forth. These clip are just examples of the actions that media influences upon their viewers. Like I stated before about the statement that Hassan made, the media will continue to find ways to fuel people with anger, which results them act in violent ways. Government also shapes public opinions through the speeches made as well as the television.

When one reflects upon the media post 9/11, they initially spot the increases in Arab/Muslim prejudged remarks; however, with a decade past one could argue movies and television shows have managed to represent a more accurate illustration of life in the Middle East. Days following the attacks on the twin towers, the media occupied its broadcast with horrible racial stereotypes. Newspapers, homepages, and newscasts filled their content with prejudiced information which distorted many Americans point of view.

The biggest comparison of the two time periods involves the publicity originated from the slogans “9/11 We Will Never Forget” and “Remember the Maine!”. Although these examples are both tragic events from the explosion of the USS Maine and the destruction of the Twin Towers, both are considered prominent examples of the American media’s role in the wars. By using large misleading headlines and over dramatic story lines, the truth could be altered into propaganda to spark war tension. The more dramatic a story was, the more attention and money it would gain.

Homeland defense is a security effort to protect states against terrorist.
