I felt that the author’s name sounded familiar. I turned over to back cover, and I found that the author, Kate DiCamillo, was also the author of “The Tale of Despereaux” and “Because of Winn- Dixie” (I had seen the movie and read the book, and I loved it!!). I also found out that The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane had won the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award. I started to read the book and once I was finished, I knew that I was going to use this book for my book report. My reaction to the book The book was sooooooooo touching and moving. I felt really sad, I even cried a bit when the little girl died. Edward is much protected and has never seen anything that was outside of the Tulane residence. Once he gets lost at sea, he finds real meaning of life and discovers himself during his long journey. He realizes that he has never REALLY loved, and he has never REALLY faced challenges, has never known about people with no money and people who are sick and can’t get medical help, or people living in poverty. I liked the fairy tale ending when he finally gets picked up by Abilene's daughter, even though it is more like a movie ending --- they lived happily ever after. 20080929_Book_Report_Edward_Tulane.doc Page 3 The story is about loving and spreading
